Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hasn't quite managed to find the same level of financial success as its predecessor, but lower box office takings due to the fallout from the pandemic mean it was always facing an uphill battle. Still an undeniable critical and commercial success, we're not exactly surprised to learn a third movie is on the way.
That's according to star Letitia Wright, anyway, as the actress shared an update on where things stand with a third movie during a red carpet interview at last night's Golden Globes.
"I think it's already in the works," she said when asked about a possible Black Panther 3. "You know, we just had a terrific two years of just bringing it out and everybody coming together to support it. We need a little bit of a break, we need to regroup, and Ryan [Coogler] needs to get back into the lab so it's going to take a while, but really excited for you guys to see that."
Asked if she can definitely confirm plans for a third instalment, the actress responded, "I always try to do positive words and positive thinking and I believe that good words manifest, so I'm manifesting a Black Panther 3. Why not?"
So, we're not going to take this as official confirmation, but it certainly sounds promising.
Ryan Coogler is still rumoured to be the frontrunner to helm Avengers: Secret Wars, so another Black Panther movie is unlikely to happen during the Multiverse Saga. Even if those reports are incorrect, it might still be a struggle to get any sort of threequel written and shot before that finale unless work has indeed already begun.
