Raw Leiba Lobbies For BLACK PANTHER Villain Role By Donning Erik Killmonger Costume

Last August the Coventry Telegraph reported that actor and stuntman Raw Leiba had met with Marvel about playing Black Panther's nemesis Erik Killmonger. Now, he has donned the villain's costume in an attempt to convince the powers that be that he is right for the part.

It's been almost a year since the Coventry Telegraph reported that Raw Leiba had met with Marvel about possibly playing Erik Killmonger. Now the relatively unknown actor/stuntman has decided to make a more dramatic pitch for the part by donning the full costume.

Last August he explained to worldofblackheroes.com why he wanted the role.
Easy one, because he’s an expert fighter and can match Black Panther both Mentally and Physically and hopefully if I’m officially offered the role of Erik Killmonger my performance will make him very well known. Actors will tell you its allot more fun to be the bad guy, you can go outside the script a little bit and add your own personal touch to the character and it doesn’t hurt I look EXACTLY like the guy.

A native of Wakanda, he was born under the name N'Jadaka. When Ulysses Klaw and his mercenaries attacked Wakanda, they press-ganged N'Jadaka's father into helping them; when Klaw was defeated, the father died and his family was exiled. N'Jadaka ended up in Harlem, New York, nursing a hatred against the supervillain and T'Challa, the king who'd exiled him. He changed his name to Erik Killmonger and studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, desperate to avenge his father's death.

He eventually contacted King T'Challa and was repatriated back to Wakanda, settling in a village that would later change its name to N'Jadaka Village in his honour. He became a subversive, with dreams of ridding Wakanda of what he termed "white colonialist" cultural influences and return it entirely to its ancient ways. He then took advantage of the Black Panther's frequent absences in America with the Avengers to stage a coup d'état, along with Baron Macabre. He was defeated and killed, until the Mandarin claimed his body.

...................................................................

Plus, for the past several years Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (HBO's Oz) has expressed an interest in the role of Black Panther, and he once again declares it his dream job.

I'm gonna laugh if they just scrap a BP movie and throw him in Cap 2 as an infiltrator of SHIELD and do his origin in the Avengers like they did in the comics when one of the Avengers asks him, "So, what's your story?"

You need a great actor in order to have a great villain.

I thought Marvel realized this by now, I mean Lil Bow Wow... Really?

Um, no. Get a good actor for the villain. Hodge for Panther!

Jeeze, this is all getting ridiculous. It seems that every day there's a story about some up-and-comer, who we've never heard of, who says that his agent "had a meeting with Marvel about Black Panther."

Translation: "I'm making it all up for publicity, and if I'm lucky I might get a bit part in Big Momma's House 5 or the next Tyler Perry flick."

Djimon Hounsou should play T'Chaka. He's to old to play T'Challa at this point, but he'd make a great King of Wakanda.

Denzel as African King???:/... Cant see it.

Djimon Hounsou as T´Chaka
Unknown or Aldis Hodge as T´Challa
AAA as the villain (Man-Ape or Killmonger)
Thomas Kretschmann as Klaw
Taye Diggs, Boris Kodjoe as White Wolf

Chiwetel Ejiofor would be awesome as Black Panther or White Wolf too.

That costume looks silly, but that's generally true of most comic book costumes turned out in spandex :P

Also, I'll be shocked if we see a Black Panther movie anytime soon, much to my chagrin. Marvel seems to be focusing more on the intergalactic side. Expect Guardians of The Galaxy before Black Panther.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the villain would be great, but he'd make a decent BP as well.

PLEASE, No Denzel in this movie...ever hear the story Richard Pryor told in a stand-up routine about when he went to Africa in the 70's? Pryor wanted to go to get in touch with the motherland and find himself. He was talking to a native african and the guy assumed Pryor was italian. So please let's keep the actors dark skinned african 100%. T'Challa would not be light skinned.

It's interesting. I think this Black Panther movie reveals how much a lot of african americans are desiring an opportunity to have more center stages roles in comic book movies. Actually, it was the same with the Luke Cage movie rumors too, almost every other young black male star was giving a nod to wanting to play Luke Cage or at least try. I do hope Marvel moves forward with Black Panther and Luke Cage at some point. It would be nice for people to get an opportunity to show their acting chops and get in on the superhero movie craze!

A lot of people don't seem to get it...

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will NEVER be considered for this role.

He left Lost in a bit of a huff, and then was rude to the show makers when they offered for him to do a cameo in the season finally. I don't have time to elaborate here, but you can find all about the details if you look on the web for it.

ABC is owned by Disney, which also owns Marvel. The last thing the company wants is to have an actor come aboard who will challenge the system, especially when that system is a billion $ enterprise after the success of the Avengers. I've been saying all along that that is why Ed Norton was fired from the job and replaced. They wanted an actor to come aboard who wouldn't challenge the way they do things, which is what Norton did during the production of the Incredible Hulk.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje proved himself to NOT be a team player during Lost. There is literally no way in hell that the Disney corporation will ever consider him for a continuing role in a major franchise. Maybe they'd hire him as a villain, assuming to kill his character off at the end of a movie. But no long term deal. No matter how good an actor he is (and I think he was pretty darn good in Lost), there is such a thing as professionalism in movie making. Why would Downey and Hemsworth and Joss Wheaton and the rest want to work with Akinnuoye-Agbaje after the stunts he pulled with Lost?

I don't think a lot of people actually care or are taking this seriously - it's just cool to have an actor enthusiastic about a pretty obscure character.
