AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR's Chris Evans Weighs Seemingly Confirms Plans For A BLACK WIDOW Movie

Black Panther has been a huge hit for Marvel Studios and now Chris Evans talks about the impact it might have on Captain Marvel and seemingly confirms that the Black Widow movie is indeed happening...

Black Panther features an almost entirely black cast and has exceeded expectations at the box office in a way that no one predicted. In the process, the movie has proved that superhero movies which feature a significant amount of diversity can succeed. That surely opens the door to future Marvel movies like Captain Marvel and Black Widow being hits and Chris Evans has seemingly confirmed that the latter is happening. Bear in mind that's only been rumoured to be in the works up until now.

"There's nothing [Marvel Studios] can't do," the actor confidently declares in the video below. "And I'm sure it's gonna have the exact same effect when Captain Marvel comes out, and then the Black Widow movie comes out. Marvel just has the winning recipe and they're kind of one step ahead of everybody else." It could just be that he's basing these comments on online reports but who knows!

While it appears as if Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow will receive the spotlight in Marvel's Phase 4, Evans' future as Captain America isn't quite so clear. Either way, the Avengers: Infinity War star is clearly excited about what comes next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's more diverse heroes and he makes a very valid point about Black Panther here. Besides the two Avengers movies a Black Widow movie is the superhero movie I’m most looking forward to.

“Marvel just has the winning recipe and they're kind of one step ahead of everybody else." Well that about sums it up perfectly.

I’m happy that she’s finally getting a movie that I wanted since Iron Man 2

“proved that superhero movies which feature a significant amount of diversity can succeed”

Was that ever seriously questioned?

Man, I hope BP to become the highest grossing film of all time just to see how this narrative will persist.

A BP movie was long overdue, btw.

@Fogs - Good point. It, weirdly, has been (overly) questioned.
I saw an interview with Boseman, the presenter claiming he was the 'first black lead in a superhero film'.
No, not by a long shot.

Black Panther is a very good film, though. Better than Titanic!

@Fogs - Of course it was. How many movies have you seen with primarily comprised of 'other'(whatever that means for you) not only behind, but in front of, the camera?

And by questioned I mean 'we'll say how great an idea it is but never actually do anything about it.'

@Stealthduck @Kozmik

What I meant was "Has anyone seriously doubted the ethnicity of the central character really was going to hurt the film?"

I was being sarcastic. Some dumb folk around certainly did. If not for inclusion, they should've made this film a long ago precisely cause people would really want to watch it.

And my #2 point is: racism is real and there are some really bad people around there. But most people are good and don't give a shit about the color of the character. All they want is to have a good time at the theaters.

@Fogs - True. Maybe it was a bigger deal for certain countries, or people who have not grown up reading these comic books. We knew what was coming and couldn't wait for it.
I may have paid some attention if the question was 'can Chadwick Boseman lead a blockbuster film?, as he didn't seem to command that particular profile in the industry. Now he does.

I currently reside in a majorly podominant Caucasian country, my cinema was full and the film was very well received. Good times.

@Stealthduck - There you go. The average citizen don't care about race. Very cool.

@Fogs - I hope that is the general case. People are people. Character counts. Actions count. Couldn't give a rat's arse about colour.

I know we've had Salt, Atomic Blonde (which I've just watched, not a bad film at all), Hanna, and Red Sparrow, and people must be basing their expectations on a Black Widow film on these, but I don't want a gritty and overtly violent take on Black Widow. They should go with something sleek, sexy, stylish and fun for Black Widow. Maybe have Natasha warm up a bit too. The cold female assassin thing is a bit played out.

I think Marvel will sneak some other characters in this film as well but who?
