Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have still not even officially announced that Black Widow the movie is even happening, but pre-production has been rampant for some time now, with director Cate Shortland and screenwriters Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson long-since hired for the project.
Cast some time ago were Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour. The latter revealed that filming would start in June of this year. Well, it looks like it's happening three days earlier than that!
According to
MCU Cosmic, production trucks for a film whose working title is "Blue Bayou" have been spotted in Saebo, Norway, as has star Scarlett Johansson. The location will reportedly serve as Natasha's childhood home.
The project has long been suspected to be a prequel about how Clint Barton turned Natasha Romanov from the dark side. However, some weeks ago, Sebastian Stan "let slip" that the film will take place between the events of Civil War and Infinity War. If true, it seems that Natasha, while a global fugitive, will take the time to revisit her past.
A very likely scenario is that Florence Pugh's character will prove to be Yelena Belova (Black Widow II from the comics), who Natasha will turn to the side of the angels, as Clint did for her, with Pugh taking over the lead in future post-Endgame-set sequels.
Rob Hardy (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) serves as the director of photography on the project, which is undoubtedly the mystery Marvel movie headed for a May 01st 2020 release date. Expect for much of this to be made official at comic-Con the weekend of July 19th.
