BLACK WIDOW Commences Filming in Norway - Scarlett Johansson on Set

Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have still not even officially announced that Black Widow the movie is even happening, but pre-production has been rampant for some time now, with director Cate Shortland and screenwriters Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson long-since hired for the project.

Cast some time ago were Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour. The latter revealed that filming would start in June of this year. Well, it looks like it's happening three days earlier than that!

According to MCU Cosmic, production trucks for a film whose working title is "Blue Bayou" have been spotted in Saebo, Norway, as has star Scarlett Johansson. The location will reportedly serve as Natasha's childhood home.

The project has long been suspected to be a prequel about how Clint Barton turned Natasha Romanov from the dark side. However, some weeks ago, Sebastian Stan "let slip" that the film will take place between the events of Civil War and Infinity War. If true, it seems that Natasha, while a global fugitive, will take the time to revisit her past.

A very likely scenario is that Florence Pugh's character will prove to be Yelena Belova (Black Widow II from the comics), who Natasha will turn to the side of the angels, as Clint did for her, with Pugh taking over the lead in future post-Endgame-set sequels.

Rob Hardy (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) serves as the director of photography on the project, which is undoubtedly the mystery Marvel movie headed for a May 01st 2020 release date. Expect for much of this to be made official at comic-Con the weekend of July 19th.

I'm definitely interested in this. Can't wait for Natasha to get her much-deserved solo film, whether it's an "origin film" or not. I'm beginning to think that this will be a unique spin on the origin story (much like Captain Marvel's non-linear storytelling).

...and I agree about the May 2020 date. However, there has been some talk that it could end up being The Eternals release date. But since they haven't really released much on the casting front from it, I'm inclined to think that Eternals will open November 6, 2020 or February 12, 2021 (if that's not Black Panther 2).

What We Know:

Title: Untitled Black Widow Solo Film
Working title: Blue Bayou
Director: Cate Shortland (Lore)
DP: Rob Hardy (MI:Fallout)
Writer(s): Jac Schaeffer (TiMER, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure), Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby)
Cast:
Scarlett Johansson – Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow
Florence Pugh (Fighting with my Family) – Yelena Bolova (rumored)
Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) -- ???
David Harbour (Stranger Things) -- ???
O-T Fagbenle (Handmaid's Tale) -- ???

I can't wait. I hope this leads to a trilogy for her. Flesh out the past of the MCU.

Very good for BW.

This should be a great send-off for her character in the MCU.

The grab from Fallout is already an automatic 5/10. lol Should be visually beautiful.

Anyone else just not care about this movie at all?

I mean, I love Natasha. I’ve wanted a BW movie for years. However, she’s dead. I don’t really care about learning about her if her fate is already determined

I never thought I cared about Black Widow until I felt her absence during the end fight. I found myself thinking about her loss more than Tony's during his own funeral. So I say bring it. Also, I want the bangs:

I’ve wanted her to have her own movie for a while but it’s kind of disappointing knowing her fate is already sealed. Also, kind of like watching JJ Season 3 knowing it is already canceled.

@RolandD - is it really sealed though? it exists in a comic book franchise where snapping ones fingers can change reality... we may yet see more of BW.
