BLACK WIDOW Concept Art Reveals Our First Official Look At Taskmaster

Following last night's panel at Comic-Con, Marvel Studios has released a piece of keyframe concept art depicting Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow squaring off with a live-action version of Taskmaster...

Marvel Studios may have unveiled its Phase 4 slate at Comic-Con last night but we weren't treated to any concept art from the movies that were announced. Well, a piece from Black Widow by Andy Park is being handed out today and, as you can see, it offers our first look at Natasha Romanoff battling it out with the villainous Taskmaster.

Taskmaster was spotted on set a while ago but this gives us our best look yet at the fan-favourite comic book villain who has become a staple of Marvel video games and animated TV shows.

As you can see, he's wielding his shield and wearing a mask that may not look skull-like at first glance but is clearly based upon one on closer inspection (you can even see the teeth). As modern reinterpretations go, Marvel Studios has done a great job and it will be fun seeing him in action...and finding out whether he has a future in the MCU beyond this movie.

What do you guys think of our first proper look at Taskmaster?

Hit the "View List" button to check out Marvel Studios' Phase 4 slate!

The Disney+ TV shows are also included on the Phase 4 slate and Falcon & The Winter Soldier is up next for Fall 2020. Footage shown revealed that Baron Zemo will don his comic book mask and it looks like he's out for revenge against these two. Sadly, the new Captain America suit wasn't revealed but Anthony Mackie did come out on stage with the shield.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was next to be confirmed and we now know who will be playing both Shang-Chi and The Mandarin. We'll have more on that on the site for you soon.

As expected, WandaVision is coming to Disney+ but here's a surprise: Teyonah Parris is playing an adult version of Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel. It remains to be seen whether she'll adopt her superhero persona from the comic books but it certainly sounds like that will be the case.

Also coming to Disney+ is Loki and the series will follow the version of the character from 2012 who managed to escape with the Tesseract when The Avengers travelled back in time in Endgame!

Exciting news for Doctor Strange fans as the Sorcerer Supreme will return to the big screen in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness where he will go to war with Nightmare in the MCU's first horror movie! And yes, Elizabeth Olsen will appear as the Scarlet Witch as WandaVision leads directly into the 2021 release...

A huge number of MCU actors will reprise their roles in this animated series and The Watcher has finally been cast! We'll have to wait and see whether he makes the leap from What If? to a live-action setting, though. Check back here later for a full list of actors set to lend their voices to the show.

It had been rumoured but Hawkeye is indeed coming to Disney+ and he'll be joined by Kate Bishop. If that logo is anything to go by, it will be based on Matt Fraction's critically acclaimed comic book run.

Thor: Love and Thunder will feature an openly gay Valkyrie and the big screen debut of a female Thor...played by Natalie Portman! The cast hasn't seen the script yet but Portman came out on stage holding Mjolnir so it's pretty obvious where things are going. Don't fret, though, as Chris Hemsworth will still factor into proceedings!

As expected, Black Widow has also been confirmed. It will be set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and Taskmaster is going to be the villain. Yelena Belova is also going to appear.

How do you guys feel about these announcements? Are you psyched for Phase 4 or are some of the movies you were excited about missing? Let us know in the comments section below.

As much as I unrealistically hoped for a more traditional looking Taskmaster, for the aesthetic they're going for this works well.

@Prork - he looks too slim in that promo picture.

Rumor is the movie is set between infinity war and Endgame.

Aside from the goggles/visor (which are practical and would probably grow on me), I love it.

Love the shield. Not so much how morphenomenal the rest is.

The design if the costume is very much in keeping with existing MCU design aesthetics which is good, and could probably be described as Ghost meets Winter Soldier

I'm really interested in the action sequences for this. If that footage description is as good as it reads, the fight between ScarJo and Pugh was some Jason Bourne, crazy shit.

Not in love with it but I hope it is like most costumes in the MCU and better on the screen

Mask is a bit iffy, but everything else looks great!

The mask looks like a repurposed Ultron head with some Oakley wraparounds.

This is why black widow is my most anticipated movie followed closely by the Eternals.
Nebula

@PantherKing - Was my most anticipated before the panel. Now it's third behind Strange 2 and Thor 4. Because Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2 is all I've been clamouring for since the first one. And everything about Thor 4 is just:

@Nebula - That’s fine but for me I’ve always wanted widow to shine in her own movie so having this is my number 1 is because I want to see how characters will minimal powers can solve their problems and develop. But I can’t disagree with your level of excitement.

@Nebula - Like a week ago Black Widow was my most anticipated thing but now between Black Widow, WandaVision, Doctor Strange and Thor and it’s damn near a four way tie of maximum excitement.

Certainly unique. Can only hope the final design of the visor bit isn't the same as in the concept art. If not, it's not that bad.

Can widow really go toe to toe with TM?

TASKMASTER!!! Awesome.

For a while, I thought the guy in Agents of SHIELD was going to become Taskmaster. He was one of the best MCU villains who got killed off too early.

I hope Crossbones is revealed to have survived, because he was killed too early as well.
