Black Widow will be the first Marvel Studios movie to play in theaters since Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. While fans will have the option to watch from home, it feels like the perfect excuse to return to that big screen experience, which is something Disney is sure to be counting on.
After all, it's going to take a while before blockbusters begin to gross $1 billion+ at the worldwide box office again, but if any title can achieve that, you have to believe it'll be one set in the MCU!
Last night, star David Harbour appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the actor brought a new Black Widow clip with him. In it, Alexei can be seen donning his old costume for the first time in quite a few years before joining his "daughters" for a toast to their time as a family in Russia.
"In Marvel Studios' Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises," reads the synopsis. "Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."
In the movie, Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige; Black Widow - the first big screen story in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - arrives on July 9th both in theaters and on Disney+.
