BLACK WIDOW Director Shortlist Also Includes A UNITED KINGDOM And NOVITATE Filmmakers
It seems the director shortlist for Marvel's Black Widow movie has now been narrowed down to three, with Amma Asante (A United Kingdom), and Maggie Betts (Novitiate) now also said to be in the running...
Last night, we found out that Lore and Berlin Syndrome director Cate Shortland had emerged as the favourite to helm Marvel's planned Black Widow movie, but it seems there are still a couple of other filmmakers in contention.
Deadline has updated its original report to include Amma Asante (A United Kingdom) and Maggie Betts (Novitiate), who are said to have met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Natasha Romanov actress Scarlett Johansson to pitch their ideas for the Avengers spinoff.
Apparently, Shortland, Asante and Betts were narrowed down from a field of 49 directors. It's also worth noting that all three are known for their period dramas, which could lend credence to the rumor that the movie will be a prequel.
Hopefully we'll find out which one landed the gig soon, but in the meantime, let us know who you'd like to see direct Black Window in the comments below.
