Black Widow star Florence Pugh talks about the movie's big post-credits scene, while also sharing her thoughts on Yelena Belova's confirmed return in the Hawkeye TV series heading to Disney+ this year...

In Black Widow's post-credits scene, Yelena Belova meets with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine at Natasha Romanoff's graveside and is tasked with taking out the man responsible for her sister's death: Clint Barton. It was confirmed last year that Florence Pugh would return in Hawkeye, though we obviously didn't know at the time that she'd be gunning for the Avenger.

Talking to Variety, Pugh revealed that the stringer was shot during the winter of 2019, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic halted productions around the globe.

"I was doing scenes again with Scarlett, and being strapped to her on various machines, and us giggling again," she recalled. "And then the following week, I was at her grave! It was quite shocking to fast-forward that quickly. But wonderful to have only seen Scarlett the week previous. I think it would have been sadder if it had been many, many months later."

Revealing that she didn't know there was going to be a post-credits scene featuring Yelena, Pugh went on to share some insight into where we find the character. "She’s going to continue what she’s good at, and despite her sister not being there, she’s back working. If you look at her costume, and you look at the way that she’s dressed herself, it shows someone that’s flourishing."

"So to me, it was just really wonderful to kind of jump ahead and see she has been surviving," Pugh said before commenting on Yelena's mission to find Hawkeye and take him out. "But, of course, it sets up a whole different challenge — which is Natasha’s fighting partner." She added: "There’s always talks, but I didn’t ever really imagine that it would continue quite so quickly."

Something tells us that Yelena will probably come to her senses and realise that Natasha's demise wasn't Clint's fault. Alternatively, there's always a chance she'll become a full-blown villain in Hawkeye, especially if Marvel Studios is planning to have "Val" assemble her own team of Dark Avengers in the MCU.

Are you excited for Yelena's Phase 4 future post-Black Widow?

You and me both, fam.

Awesome acting on her part and not just in that one scene.

Great addition to the MCU!

@Doomsday8888 - Definitely.
I'm usually hesitant at first about new people carrying on an old mantle, and so was the case with Black Widow before watching the movie.
But now, after seeing Florence's performance and the characterization of Yelena, I'm fine with it.

Overall it was, in my mind anyway, a damn good movie that I was fortunate enough to actually see in a movie theatre, which was only about 45% full btw. The Taskmaster reveal was a little on the meh side but not enough to spoil the whole experience. I wouldn't say that Pugh stole the movie from ScarJo, but every scene she was in was no less than great. The after credit scene just made my anticipation for the Hawkeye series go up measurably and it really wasn't that high initially..

Hopefully she loses that accent. I enjoyed the movie. But Taskmaster felt like Deadpool from Origins and the pheromone thing was Roger Moore Bond Villain over the top dumb.

Saw it last night in IMAX. Really really liked it. Not quite loved, but thought the action was awesome, acting was great, story was simple enough and that’s fine. Cinematography i thought was incredible, loved some of the locations/backdrops they shot. Those alone made it worth the IMAX viewing.

🚨SPOILERS:

Didn’t care much for the Taskmaster ‘reveal’, but if you take out any knowledge of the character in other media, i can see how it being the guy’s daughter works really well for the story. Nat trying to save her at all costs was pretty predictable, could’ve used a little bit of a longer final fight with them though. I do feel like Nat’s face should have maybe been more beat up by the end (like Steve’s by the end of The Winter Soldier, which was surprising considering how brutal other aspects of the movie were. My main/really only complaint is how did she get out of that situation at the end when Ross and all the SUVs are converging on her at the crash site??? Did she cut a deal? Did she somehow escape? Because she’s very clearly still on the run as a fugitive in Infinity War….

For sure one of their better solo films. 7.8/10.
