The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the third trailer for Black Widow scored more than 70 million views during its first 24 hours online. Why is that number so impressive? Well, the last teaser for the Marvel Studios movie racked up 57 million views, so this one generated a much bigger audience.
Godzilla vs. Kong vastly exceeded expectations at the box office and on HBO Max, with the primary reason for that believed to be the huge demand for blockbusters among frustrated moviegoers.
While WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier have provided Marvel Cinematic Universe fans with something of a fix for Marvel Studios content on Disney+, the movie experience is something else entirely. Black Widow is the first Phase 4 film, and while it's set in the past, the expectation is that it will lay the groundwork for future stories (like Hawkeye and the Thunderbolts).
"In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises," reads the synopsis for the movie. "Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."
The new trailer featured plenty of action-packed footage, and excitement for Black Widow is definitely building. With a simultaneous theatrical and Disney+ release planned, it's going to be very interesting to see what Marvel Studios has in store for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals.
