Marvel Wants A Female Director For BLACK WIDOW; Here's The Latest Filmmaker In The Running
It appears as if Marvel Studios is moving full steam ahead on its Black Widow movie as another director has been named as being in contention for the Scarlett Johansson led spinoff. Check it out...
Scarlett Johansson has played a huge role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow, making her debut in 2010's Iron Man 2 and recently showing up in Avengers: Infinity War. She'll return as the fan-favourite former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent next year in Avengers 4 but a solo movie is currently in the works and now another filmmaker has been named as being in the running to take the helm.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios is definitely looking for a female director to take charge of Black Widow and they name Cate Shortland as someone on the short list we should be keeping an eye on.
The Australian director has a lot of credits to her name with Lore and Berlin Syndrome among the latest. Black Widow would be her first Hollywood blockbuster but Kevin Feige has never shied away from hiring Indie filmmakers for its superhero movies and it's something which has paid off for them in a big way on multiple occasions.
