BLACK ADAM Producer Says They've Talked About Making KINGDOM COME Movie At The Rock's Seven Bucks Productions

Black Adam co-producer and Seven Bucks Productions President Hiram Garcia has confirmed that there's interest in adapting Mark Wait and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come as "an epic, multi-film saga." Check it out!

Dwayne Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions is taking an active role in the DC Extended Universe, producing Black Adam, DC League of Super-Pets, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. However, it sounds like the team have even grander ambitions for this comic book franchise, with an adaptation of Mark Waid and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come an apparent priority for studio President Hiram Garcia.

"I think the dream project that's something we've always spoken about at Seven Bucks, we would love to make someday, which is a tougher ambition due to, obviously, IP and rules and so forth, but always been obsessed with Kingdom Come, the Mark Waid/Alex Ross joint that those guys did," the Black Adam co-producer told Collider during a recent interview.

"We've always envisioned it as kind of an epic, multi-film saga. I think that's something we've always dreamed of being able to do. If there was ever a dream project, and not trying to start a fire where it's like we're gunning after that, because it's just pie in the sky, you'd love to be able to tell the story," Garcia continued. "I always admired that story of the juxtaposition of old-school heroes versus new-school heroes...[there's] always something very compelling in the big, cataclysmic mash-up of old versus new. That's something that in a perfect world, we could do it, would love to do it."

The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths is the closest we've ever come to a Kingdom Come adaptation, and it's not hard to picture this being a massive, sprawling blockbuster series with lots of big name actors. How feasible that is when Warner Bros. still seems so unsure of what to do with these characters is hard to say, especially as this would be an undertaking on the level of the last two Avengers movies.

DC Comics fans often talk about how much they'd like to see Waid and Ross' work adapted for the big screen, of course, and if anyone can make it happen, it's probably going to be The Rock!

Would you like to see Kingdom Come on the big screen?

Sure I'd kill for a Kingdom Come live action project, but I'm not sure I want Dwayne Johnson's influence over it.

Sure, why not Kingdom Come. Cavill is fast approaching that age. Just don't let the Rock or his toolbag crew touch it.

@inkniron - if he could pull this off with the right crew behind him, this could be something really special. I’m definitely on board.

I’m really liking the ambition behind the rocks team. With Black Adam bringing in the likes of the JSA, I’m definitely on board with this.

The worst thing you can do to your franchise is hand it over to the Rock!

@KanchaCheena - which is exactly the opposite of the truth. The man has saved franchises and has a huge following. Only an idiot would post what you posted and believe it.

I don't think Kingdom Come can be adapted well. It's probably in my top 5 of all time, but it'd be too convoluted for a wider audience. They'd water it down and it'd be lame. Plus, they wouldn't have the balls to include the Christian stuff for fear of controversy.

Leave Kingdom Come as a comic. You'll never make an adaptation that would even come close.
