The first trailer for Black Adam was released earlier this month, and for the most part, it received a positive response from fans. For a movie that star Dwayne Johnson has said will change the hierarchy of power in the DC Extended Universe, it looks a little by the numbers, but we're certainly not going to write this one off based on a teaser alone.

What we can say is that the DC Comics adaptation stands a good chance of being a fun blockbuster, and we're definitely excited to see the Justice Society in action.

As you can see in this new batch of promo art, the team has retained the "A" in their logo, though it doesn't appear as if "of America" will be something we see included in marketing beyond that. The JSA can also be seen beneath the imposing figure of Black Adam, while there are some cool shots of Hawkman and Atom Smasher (and his oddly Deadpool-esque mask).

We're hoping to see much more from Black Adam in the coming weeks and months, and with reshoots now finished, test screenings are likely just around the corner. There's no guarantee feedback from them will leak, but we may soon get some intel on what audiences think about this character's long-overdue big screen debut.

Take a look at this new Black Adam promo art below, and be sure to head over to our news tab for the movie to keep your eyes peeled for all the latest updates and reveals.

From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action-adventure Black Adam under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods - and imprisoned just as quickly - Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I've Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) as Dr. Fate.

Black Adam will electrify audiences in theaters when it's released on October 21, later this year!

Not being a DC guy, I'm a little behind. Does anyone know if they will explain where the core JLA members are during this movie? Like are green lantern, wonder woman, and superman off world fighting Braniac or something?

@Vigor - The rest of the league are dealing with the flash.

@Vigor - This is the Justice Society of America, not the Justice League of America. Those are 2 different groups. I am a DC guy but these movies are killing me haha.

@jaydub2722 - oh wow I totally missed that. And even if I caught it, I don't think I would have understood there was a distinction between the two lol.

Thanks for tbe answer

Black Adam isn't a primary character and barely a secondary character. No Dwayne, I love you man, but the hierarchy isn't changing in DC. Get in the back of the line....DC will always be Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman (in that order)

@jaydub2722 - Swap around Superman for Batman, and you're more right... ain't no secret Batman's their biggest money maker and gets a bigger audience..

@jaydub2722 - As annoying as that hierarchy line was, he was clearly referencing the characters' power level. Which would still place him after Superman, but definitely above Batman and Wonder Woman.

@UnderBelly - Movie wise, yes (so in essence, you are correct). Batman definitely is better in the movies. Comic's wise, Superman is the DC Banner.

@Urubrodi - It was annoying. I really didn't get into Black Adam although he was a villain to Shazam! My understanding is that they have very similar powers. I took the comment as in reference to to rumor in Flash that they will do away with Superman and replace him with Superwoman in the timeline; however, I do see that DC/Warner want Cavill back which I thought did a commendable job as Superman.

@jaydub2722 - maybe, but I still feel there's alot more batman related comics than there is Superman these days.

Hawkman looks so off. The red pants were a baffling design choice. Green pants and ditch the facial hair and you’ve got a good Hawkman costume. Cheap as it was, the Smallville Hawkman actually looked more accurate.

Something, something HIERARCHY...

This entire movie feels like a "look how many and super masculine I am" project for Dwayne. Dominating all these other men and being over-the-top badass.

@Blergh - Well, that is the Black Adam character. He's a super-asshat.
