Last week, a rumor (The Illuminerdi deserves full credit for breaking this one) that Sarah Shahi had been offered the female lead role in Black Adam did the rounds, and Deadline has now confirmed that the Reverie actress has signed on to star alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Hobbs & Shaw; Red Notice) in Warner Bros. and New Line's upcoming DC adventure.
The initial report claimed that Shahi was in line to play Teth Adam's wife Adrianna Tomaz, aka Isis, but the trade only mentions that her character is "a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq."
Justice Society members Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) were previoulsy cast.
The Jaume Collet-Serra-directed DC Comics adventure is expected to feature the big-screen debuts of Cyclone and Dr. Fate, so keep an eye out for more casting announcements soon. A rumor that WB might be considering a JSA movie did the rounds recently, but that will likely depend on whether Black Adam is a success.
Black Adam would already have commenced production if it wasn't for the industry-wide COVID-19 delays, but we recently found out that it's been taken off the studio's release schedule altogether and is currently undated.
