BLACK PANTHER 2 Eyes July Production Start; NARCOS Actor Tenoch Huerta In Talks To Play The Villain

Marvel Studios' plans for Black Panther 2 suffered a major setback with the tragic death of star Chadwick Boseman, but it looks like the sequel is now on track for a July 2021 production start...

The recent passing of Chadwick Boseman obviously threw Marvel Studios' Black Panther 2 plans into turmoil, and last we heard, Kevin Feige and co. were taking time to mourn the actor and figure out their next move.

However, THR is now reporting that the MCU sequel is on track to commence production next July in Atlanta, and the shoot is expected to last six months.

We also have our first bit of casting news, as Narcos: Mexico actor Tenoch Huerta is in talks to come aboard as the new villain. No details on which character he'd play, unfortunately.

The trade doesn't know how Disney/Marvel plans to proceed without Boseman as the titular Wakandan hero, but the report does mention that Letitia Wright is expected to "take on a more prominent role." This will inevitably lead to speculation that Shuri is going to take up her brother's mantle, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are also set to reprise their respective roles as Nakia, M'Baku and Queen Ramonda. Ryan Coogler will be back in the director's chair.

How do you guys feel about this news? Are you surprised that Marvel is moving ahead with Black Panther 2 so soon after Boseman's death? Drop us a comment down below.

Well, I'm curious. I thought it'd take them longer to figure out what to do.

@Franshu - I fundamentally make about $27,000-$29,000 per month on the web. It's sufficient to easily supplant my old positions pay, particularly considering I just work around 10-13 hours every week from home. I was astonished how simple it was after I attempted it.

@Franshu - Put Wesley Snipes in the role of T'Challa. The role that he was given in NINETEEN NINTEY ONE. Penny, penny.

@Doomsed - Seems legit

@tripttwe - IDK, Wesley is kind of old now. I think there are plenty of actors who could fill th role. It'd be a disservice to the character and the work Boseman has already done, to unceremoniously kill T'Challa off off-screen

@MCUKnight11 - I can't imagine they would race-swap a black character in Black Panther 2 of all movies, so probably not. He really might actually be playing Namor.

I really hope that they eventually find his successor for the role. Jumping Shuri to be the main character seems premature and T'Challa is such a powerful and important character it would be shame if they were completely done with him.

@Lilvic92 - a shame*

@Lilvic92 - 100% agree. T'Challa has so many stories to tell, I can't imagine Marvel is ready to put them aside for Shuri. Shuri taking over the mantle may eventually happen, but it shouldn't yet. I'm hoping the braintrust at Marvel has figured out how to continue with T'Challa. Maybe the multiverse, maybe some kind of acknowledgement like with Rhodey btwn Iron Man 1 and 2 (even though emotionally it's not even close to the same thing). But to me, honoring Boseman means continuing the story of T'Challa.

@TheStrangeDoc - seriously man, I understand people will always mourn his death but these legacy characters are bigger then the actors sometimes. What if we never got another Joker after Ledger died? Sure we wouldn't get Leto which is good but we also wouldnt have gotten Phoenix. T'Challa vs Namor is needed!!

@Lilvic92 - if it's true that they start shooting in July, it is pretty much confirmation that the the role has been recast

@HornySpidey - because I doubt they will rework the script to make shuri black panther since it is less than a year until july and shooting that month means they are close to pre production

@HornySpidey - That's actually a great point I never thought of that. You're probably right

I don't know how they're gonna do this. You can't just kill T'Challa off-screen, but you still gotta explain where he is. And I'm sorry, it just feels way too soon for Shuri to be taking the reigns of BP.

And if they recast... Yikes

Does this mean a decision has already been made?
TheStrangeDoc
TheStrangeDoc - 11/20/2020, 3:05 PM
@MCUKnight11 - pretty sure the answer is yes. Only 7 months before production, they can't count on having an entirely new script ready by then. And pre-production has to start before then too.
