BOX OFFICE: BLACK PANTHER Breaks THE AVENGERS' Wednesday Record And Passes $500 Million Worldwide

Black Panther is proving itself to be a force to be reckoned with at the box office because the movie earned an impressive $14.5 million at the North American box office on Wednesday, the highest gross on that day for a Marvel Studios movie ever. It tops The Avengers' $13.6 million record and has now grossed $277.5 million domestically since being released last Friday before President's Day weekend.

Because of these numbers, Black Panther will cross the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office today and it appears as if the sky is the limit for Marvel's latest movie. It's too soon to say how high it will ultimately go but $1 billion doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility, especially as it should earn another $100 million this weekend and hasn't opened in countries like China or Japan as of yet.

Internationally, Black Panther made $14.5 million for a total of $213.6 million overseas. So far, it's made most of its money in the UK with a whopping $30.4 million. How many times have you watched the Ryan Coogler helmed release? Do you intend on checking it out again this weekend? Let us know your thoughts on that and these latest box office figures in the comments section down below.

I wish they knew it would be this successful. The CGI in the third act looked like 2003 Daredevil.

@knocturnalzen10 -
It's going to be rather odd, seeing Infinity War try and surpass Black Panther... not sure what we are witnessing either to be honest.

The movie was good, but this sort of reaction makes no sense. Even taking into account people trying to add a political message or just celebrating the first good Black Superhero movie.

@Scarilian - It's just hitting all the right emotional beats for a majority of it's audience on top of being an entertaining film when there's not much entertainment available. I mean the Olympics are pretty boring and NFL is done,NBA was on All Star break,March Madness hasn't hit yet, and MLB is months away. PERFECT STORM.
