BLADE: TRINITY Star Wesley Snipes Responds To Patton Oswalt's Allegation He Strangled The Movie's Director

Patton Oswalt has made a series of damning allegations about Wesley Snipes' behaviour on the set of Blade: Trinity, but the actor has now responded, pointing to his race being a factor in those claims...

While the Blade franchise did well at the box office, the series ended after the third instalment was panned by critics. With David S. Goyer behind the camera, the movie embraced the cheesiness of most comic book adaptations from the mid-2000s, and the Daywalker had arguably outstayed his welcome.

Not too long ago, Wesley Snipes' Blade: Trinity co-star, Patton Oswalt, shared some damning allegations about the actor's behaviour on set, claiming that he had tried to strangle David S. Goyer, hidden out in his trailer, and only communicated via Post-it notes he signed simply with, "Blade."

These reports led to Snipes being ridiculed online, and also created the impression that he's difficult to work with. Now, in an interview with The Guardian, the actor shared his side of the story.

"Let me tell you one thing. If I had tried to strangle David Goyer, you probably wouldn’t be talking to me now. A Black guy with muscles strangling the director of a movie is going to jail, I guarantee you."

As for the Post-it notes story, the actor offered a much stronger response and suggested that race may factor into why Oswalt's story was immediately believed without question.

"This is part of the challenges that we as African Americans face here in America – these microaggressions," Snipes stated. "The presumption that one white guy can make a statement and that statement stands as true! Why would people believe his version is true? Because they are predisposed to believing the Black guy is always the problem. And all it takes is one person, Mr. Oswalt, who I really don’t know. I can barely remember him on the set, but it’s fascinating that his statement alone was enough to make people go: ‘Yeah, you know Snipes has got a problem.’"

It's definitely interesting to hear Snipes' side of the story, and as Oswalt is fairly vocal on social media, it wouldn't be overly surprising if he were to respond to what the actor has said here.

We'll keep you guys updated, but let us know your thoughts on this in the usual place!
