Blue Beetle fans were hoping to get a first look at the upcoming DC Comics movie before Shazam! Fury of the Gods hit theaters, but it sounds like we won't have too much longer to wait...

Originally developed for the HBO Max streaming service, fans grew concerned that Blue Beetle may suffer the same fate as the recently cancelled Batgirl, but the movie was given a theatrical release date shortly after Warner Bros. was acquired by Discovery.

Rumors had been doing the rounds that the trailer may screen with Shazam! Fury of the Gods (which obviously never happened), but it sounds like we may not have too much longer to wait for our first look at Jaime Reyes in action.

Actor George Lopez shared an Instagram photo will fellow cast members Xolo Maridueña, Harvey Guillén and director Ángel Manuel Soto, promising his followers that the trailer is "coming soon."

It's not much to go on, but we'd be very surprised if the first teaser wasn't released within the next couple of weeks.

"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."

"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."

The cast also includes Susan Sarandon, Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.

Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.

@AmazingFILMporg - havent seen it but the director’s last movie Charm City Kings got a pretty good response, outside of that its all short films. He is going to do a transformers movie

Seems to be a very newbie creative team, nothing glamorous

Nothing really that will get you excited based on just their involvement but nothing to point towards them pulling it off being impossible

This movie has an uphill climb to fight against the general superhero fatigue, the perception of the DC brand, and this being a lesser known character with a less famous lead.

But I really hope it’s good. Not only to give us something potentially new and fresh, but I love Xolo Maridueña on Cobra Kai and want to see him do more stuff.

NOBODY WANTS LATINO SUPERHEROES!

Nice save, ya dirty Cuban

@TheWalkingCuban - It will be crazy if El Muerto is somehow a success just because of how popular Bad Bunny is. Highly unlikely, but it could be an insane turn of events.

@TheWalkingCuban - The problem arent latinos (look at the numbers The Last of Us pulled), the problem is...the latter.

@TheWalkingCuban - I’m typically not a regular listener to the genre, but I have to admit that it’s a damn catchy song.

Also, Cubans know how to party. Haven’t had the chance to visit the country yet, but all the Cubans I’ve hung out with in Florida have been super fun.

@mountainman - trust me, EVEN MORRRRRE SO IN CUBA, I haven’t been in 20 years. That’s when I was 20 by the way, I was born here, but I visited there in 03. Anyway, I am jumping back-and-forth between this conversation and one with a girl that is in Cuba that just a few minutes ago was saying, my aunt should go visit, and then she said, why don’t I go visit, and I said well, I’ll get my passport when I get some time. And she’s like oh you can’t make time? And I was like look, my focus is getting people out of Cuba, I forgot about even visiting. By the way, I have sponsored eight Cubans, two of them are now here. Now I am scrambling to get the other six here, I’m not trying to be like this high and mighty guy, but the people that I have asked if they can help, have either said, no, or want to charge. Well, I also have a friend coming into some millions, and he said when he does, he will help me get all six of them here, as well as his remaining family in Cuba. I guess we’ll see.

Anyway, I was 20, and was with three girls in three weeks. Very mind that I am a huge nerd. At least I definitely was before that, now I’m an even bigger nerd. Except a much cooler one. Dude I’m talking to this black chick, so fine, but you know what, I absolutely suck at pulling Spanish girls in New Orleans area. I can go to Cuba and get them, but if they come here, it’s over, haha

@TheWalkingCuban - That’s beautiful. Cuban people are great, but they’ve had to endure a failed state for so long. The most freedom-loving Americans I have ever met are those who have escaped from former communist states. Eastern europeans are the same way (at least in the appreciating the great things about the US part).

@mountainman - North Koreans! Those folks know suffering. Sad story my aunt also sponsored some Cubans, she has not received word on whether they were excepted or not, but one of them got caught with beef. Literally from a cow. It’s like possessing drugs. Is now serving serious, jail time and over there, you barely eat, or drink. Prisoners look like Auschwitz’s victims. Starving Africans. It’s horrendous.

I will get my six people here, and next year I will attempt to get more people here. If I can get more this year I will. 2 of my 8 have made it.

@TheWalkingCuban - If you are the reading type, I recommend a book called “The White Pill” by Michael Malice. It covers the atrocities committed by the Soviet Union from first hand accounts. It’s fairly dark stuff, but it has a great message with a hopeful ending. No matter how dark things seem (and those of us that have always lived in western first world nations really can’t conceptualize true evil like this), all evil can be overcome. With all the craziness in the world these days that seems to get crazier all the time, I find that to be a great message. The good guys will win eventually, even when things are bleak.

I’m glad to hear your stories of the good you are doing and I know the people you are saving appreciate having their lives changed.

@mountainman - thanks man and thanks for the recommendation, I’m stuck on my phone now so reading has taken a backseat, fallen out the hatchback, been run over by a few cars. But I may just read it.

I don't care what anyone says, spending millions on a book that sells thousands is a great business model.

It's not like they're ever going to cancel that book.
