The reviews are in for Blue Beetle (you can read our roundup by clicking here) and while most appear to be of the 3* variety, that's considered "Fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes, something we're sure Warner Bros. Discovery is very grateful for right now.
Based on just shy of 50 reviews as we write this, Blue Beetle currently has a brilliant 88% score on the review aggregator. On the surface, that suggests the movie is a critical hit, with it scoring higher than Avengers: Infinity War and The Batman, for example.
However, that percentage will inevitably change over the coming days, though the studio is likely hoping it doesn't happen too rapidly seeing as the movie is still only eyeing an opening weekend of $30 million.
For the time being, though, 88% is a great start which means Blue Beetle is among the DCEU's best-reviewed releases. That bodes well for Jaime Reyes being part of the new DCU, even if it's hard not to worry things could change if the latest DC Comics adaptation ultimately flops.

In Blue Beetle, recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.
When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle.
The movie stars Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damían Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Belissa Escobedo, Harvey Guillén, with Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez. Angel Manuel Soto directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
Blue Beetle arrives in theaters on August 18.
