The countdown begins as DC's next big film, Blue Beetle, will land in theaters exactly one month from today. DC has released a 10-second-long promo for the film which highlights how Jaime Reyes will be masking up as the titular hero.
Thanks to some cool visual effects work, Xolo Maridueña's Jaime Reyes will be masking up as Blue Beetle with the use of flashy nanotechnology, along with his suits AI system.
Unlike what we saw in the first Blue Beetle trailer, the mask covers Jaime's face with a layer of a black-gooey substance first, and then comes the mask; sort of like how Eddie Brock changes into Venom.
In this new footage the mask automatically covers Jaime's face seamlessly, with no black goo present. That moment in the first trailer could be how the suit first attaches itself to new hosts, and overtime become simpler for the user to bare.
Blue Beetle is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle. The film is produced by DC Studios and the Safran Company, and directed by Angel Manuel Soto, with a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It is intended to be the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The film stars Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle, alongside Bruna Marquezine, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez.
Jaime Reyes suddenly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology called the Scarab. When the Scarab chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he's bestowed with an incredible suit of armor that's capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.
Blue Beetle arrives in theaters August 18.
