On the heels of the recent final trailer, some new TV spots for Blue Beetle have been shared online, and they all include some brand-new footage from Jaime Reyes' first live-action adventure.
The movie's world premiere was held last night in Puerto Rico, but due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, only director Ángel Manuel Soto walked the red carpet. Social media reactions still seem to be embargoed, but one attendee has shared his thoughts.
This is just one individual's opinion, of course, but it is highly positive, so let's hope the other reactions follow-suit.
James Gunn recently confirmed that Reyes is the "first DCU character," which would seem to suggest that he will be a part of the new DCU whether this movie proves to be a success or not.
"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."
"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."
The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.
Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
