DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to be excited about, but news of a Booster Gold TV series coming to Max was arguably among James Gunn's most thrilling announcements.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale following its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine on screen (Eric Martsolf briefly played him in Smallville).

That will soon change, and all signs point to Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle joining the time-travelling superhero.

A recent Production List update suggested Booster Gold will start shooting in July. Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has chimed in, claiming that is indeed the case. Even more exciting, though, is the fact the character has supposedly been cast in the DCU!

We don't know who will play Booster as we write this but Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt remains a fan-favourite choice among many DC fans. "If James thought I was right for it, then you know that would I would have to consider it," he said last year.

As for Gunn, he's said the comedy series will explore "imposter syndrome as a superhero." DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran has described the character as "a loser from the future who uses basic future technology to come back to today" and pretends to be a superhero.

A creative team still hasn't been confirmed, though we've heard Jody Hill might serve as showrunner. He's best known for Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals and previously worked with Gunn when he helmed the fourth episode of Peacemaker

Booster Gold was created by writer Dan Jurgens and first appeared in Booster Gold #1 in 1986. His real name is Michael Jon Carter, a former football star from the 25th century who becomes a time-traveling hero.

Carter, disillusioned by his lack of success and fame in his own time, steals advanced technology, including a powered suit and a robotic sidekick named Skeets, and travels back to the 20th century to become a superhero. Initially motivated by fame and fortune, Booster Gold eventually matures into a genuine hero, using his abilities to protect the innocent and uphold justice.

Known for his witty personality, penchant for self-promotion, and often portrayed as a lovable, albeit flawed character, he's been a member of various superhero teams, including the Justice League.

Stay tuned for more updates on Booster Gold as they come in.

Although I am not one of the comic book fans that have been waiting for this show to come out. When it does, if it ever does, I'll definitely give it a look, at a mnimum for the first 4 or 5 episodes. I'm not one to shit on something before it has even seen the light of day which seems to be a theme on this website these days. I want all comic related shows to succeed and will always give them a chance to do so before giving up on it if I feel it doesn't deserve my time.

@TheManWithoutFear - tv productions nowadays are conparable to some movies so we should be good.

And i dont know, maybe his marvel contract might prevent him doing a dc movie and tv is the way for now? Just guessing

Interesting , I’ll see it to believe it as of now considering we don’t even have an announced showrunner as of yet (unless it is Jody Hill which would be a good fit imo)…

Anyway , I like the premise so hope it happens sooner then later!!.

My picks for Booster Gold…

Geez, don't waste Pratt on this junk.

What a great Hal Jordan or Green Arrow he would make, but they'll never do it.
