AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors The Russo Brothers Are Reportedly Producing CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Much has been said about Captain America: Brave New World's supposed production issues, but the good news is that Joe and Anthony Russo have seemingly boarded the project as producers. Check it out...

When Marvel Studios enlisted the Russo Brothers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, many fans understandably questioned whether the filmmakers behind You, Me and Dupree were the right team for the job.

Well, the 2014 movie remains one of Marvel Studios' best, and Joe and Anthony delivered yet again with Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame

They've since moved on from the MCU to focus on AGBO, a production label they can release their own movies through (with the biggest hit so far being Netflix's Extraction franchise starring Thor actor Chris Hemsworth).

While the Russo Brothers' time in the MCU appears to be over, Captain America: Brave New World Editor Matthew Schmidt recently updated his film credits and Joe and Anthony's names are included.

In a list of producers, we have Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's Nate Moore...and the Russos!

This may be a contractual obligation or an indication that Marvel Studios has turned to Joe and Anthony for help making sure Brave New World lives up to the lofty expectations fans have for the franchise.

"We’re always talking; we’d need to see what would work," Joe previously said of a potential reunion with Marvel Studios. "We won’t be ready to do anything with Marvel until the end of the decade."

Talking about his first movie as Captain America, Anthony Mackie teased, "This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. I think with these movies, you're getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

"The title implies that there's a new, bigger enemy now; there's a new frontier that we have to conquer," Mackie added. "From Captain America: The First Avenger to Endgame, the enemy was always good versus bad. Now that we've conquered that, where do we go from here? When the bad guys reappear, in what form are they reappearing?"

"It is a new storyline with new characters, with new beliefs, and it creates a new idea of this new world that we're going into."

Captain America: Brave New World's cast includes Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.

Julius Onah helms the movie from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, though the director is believed to have also taken a pass at it. Matthew Orton, meanwhile, has written new scenes for the additional photography which has been taking place in Atlanta, Georgia.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive in theaters on February 14, 2025.

What happens when you have a Captain America movie but without Captain America? We'll soon find out... 🤔

@SuperiorHeckler -

We kinda already found that out in F&WS. If we get another bagful of low quality punch in the face message mush like that on the big screen, it will be a disaster.

All we can do is be optimistic, cross our fingers, and hope the MCU gets back to delivering well written high quality entertainment in their movies again. Heads will roll if we get another sh!tter like the Marvels.

@SuperiorHeckler - You already got a Black Panther movie with no Black Panther, so expect the same. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect with the MCU.

@SuperiorHeckler - Honestly it feels more like a Hulk movie without the Hulk given it has the Leader and Red Hulk in it.

@SuperiorHeckler - Well then it's a good thing that Captain America WILL be in this movie!

Yeah, what are they supposed to do now that the movie is mostly done? Either this is confirmation we're getting more reshoots (which isn't good), or this is just an excuse to put "the guys who made infinity war and endgame" in the marketing.

@Origame - Even then, they aren't directing the reshoots.

@CreateNowSlpL8r - I mean, bare minimum producers have a lot of say in a production. But at this point there simply is t much for them to do.

@Origame - Unless they are reshooting this entire movie again... Nothing would surprise me at this point.

@Origame - Could just contractual much like Stan Lee, as in they didn't do sh** but the studio are obligated to credit them due to their contracts

@eagc1995 - isn't that what executive producer is for?

Marvel is just throwing their names on it for good optics, no doubt.

"Remember how good and serious the Winter Soldier was, everyone? It's just like that again."

I wonder how much that cost marketing?
I will happily wait until 2030 for those guys to come back. It also gives the MCU to put in better groundwork for a better pay off.

My guess is that it's just a contractual thing, that they're using concepts introduced in one of their MCU outings, and the studio is contractually obligated to list them.

If they are legitimately adding them NOW, basically in post production, that wouldn't make much sense. Maybe they've been involved all along, and this is just another perfectly good MCU film that some folks have already made up their mind to hate for some reason.

@clintthahamster - I hope that this carries forward the themes from winter soldier and civil war, some of the best MCU movies ever produced. You would think that it should at least partially tie to Civil War. Ross wanted all superheroes registered with the government. After not getting that, he’s now creating his own with the help of the Leader.

Clintthahamster - 6/18/2024, 12:24 PM
@mountainman - Agreed. Earlier reports have said that they were going for more of a Winter Soldier vibe on this one. Hard to see how they'll square that "grounded, gritty thriller" vibe with the "giant gamma-irradiated monsters" content, but I can't wait to see them try!

I'll go to see this if the Russo Brothers pick me up and drive me to the theater.

Otherwise, I will root for it's failure at the house.

Adding producers at this stage makes no sense, unless if they're doing massive reshoots. This is to save face, or another stupid rumor lol

@BlackStar25 -

They do around here for some reason.

Brightburn is an example off the top of my head, people mention it as James Gunns Brightburn, but he didn't even write or direct it, he was a producer.
