CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Reportedly Features A Surprise Cameo From An Unexpected Avenger - SPOILERS

It appears Marvel Studios has enlisted an MCU veteran for Captain America: Brave New World as a reliable source claims a certain Avenger will make their presence felt in the movie. Read on for details...

Captain America: Brave New World reshoots are currently taking place in Atlanta and it appears another major Marvel character has been added to the movie.

Based on a recent Instagram post from paparazzi Atlanta Filming (who has taken hundreds of the shots we've featured here over the years), it appears Benedict Wong will return as the MCU's Sorcerer Supreme, Wong.

This might feel like a strange move, but it makes sense on several levels. For starters, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revealed that Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel seem to regularly meet to discuss threats to Earth-616, so why wouldn't he touch base with the new Captain America?

Then, there's the fact Abomination is now training in Kamar-Taj; he was created by The Leader and could have valuable intel about the villain...heck, he may even show up to help Sam Wilson deal with Red Hulk.

Talking of that villain, Emil Blonsky also worked for General "Thunderbolt" Ross before becoming Abomination, so Tim Roth being enlisted for a cameo also isn't outside the realm of possibility.

We'll see what happens, but it's possible this is a spoiler for a post-credits scene or something along those lines, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars looming. Nothing is confirmed at this stage but Atlanta Filming is a reliable source and has broken many casting stories with hints like this over the years.

According to The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, Wong is actually the one building the MCU's New Avengers.

A few months ago, Anthony Mackie said Captain America: Brave New World is "10 times bigger" than The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and later added, "This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be."

"I think with these movies, you're getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Captain America: Brave New World's cast includes Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.

Julius Onah helms the movie from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, though the director is believed to have also taken a pass at it. Matthew Orton, meanwhile, has written new scenes for the additional photography which is now taking place in Atlanta, Georgia.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive in theaters on February 14, 2025.

@Vigor - Yup, how much other characters are part of the narrative itself and how little screentime they may get aside seems logical they would at least START to show who Sam is linking up with and thus who are the members of his team when he calls on the Avengers to Assemble.

I know folk bang on about how they percieve the team was better setup in prior phases but as I stated elsewhere once all your main players have had their own titular films (and supporting members there prior supporting roles) only takes two films prior to set it up and this was always likely to be the biggest one for that.

Like it's just sitting in a chair.

Since when is Wong an avenger?
Because Ive watched all 4 Avengers movies to date and he never became a member of the team :/

TheVisionary25 - 6/7/2024, 2:00 PM
@gambgel - I guess he became one after Endgame since he’s been shown to be in contact with Banner and Carol atleast

He is the Sorcerer Supreme though so that could be a reason to.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 6/7/2024, 2:04 PM
@gambgel - he was in the post credit scene in Shang chi with hulk and captain marvel. Maybe Wong realizes the world needs the avengers and that’s why he’s trying to get them back together
HashTagSwagg

@gambgel - When Cap said Avengers assemble, after everyone had already assemble for that final fight in Endgame, it implied everyone there was an Avenger, including every Wakandan, whatever ravangers showed up and those background sorcerer's who only seem to know how to make a shield. I can't wait for each one those guys to finally get their spin off's.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 6/7/2024, 2:11 PM
@gambgel - He was in charge of the wizards without hats in Endgames final battle after fighting alonside Iron Man in Infinity War but Iron Man wasn't an Avenger before the first Avenger movie, Falcon wasn't an Avenger before Age of Ultron etc...

...however he has been popping up trying to recruit a team in multiple films and shows since Endgame with vague references to a huge Avenger level threat coming so as much a potential part of the next Avenger team as Fury and Coulson were in phase one.

@Apophis71 - Wizards without hats…

Come to think of it , a lot of Wizards in Harry Potter don’t wear hats so are they sorcerers too?.

These are the questions one ponders when bored at work.

I hope he’s not in the movie itself since it’s been stated to be a relatively grounded movie akin to TWS which I was looking forward to (I mean as much as a movie with The Leader & Red Hulk possibly can be)…

I would be cool with him being in a post credits scene though , possibly him warning Sam about an upcoming threat if he is indeed helping to build the new Avengers.

You can never go wrong with more Wong…;).

Wong is a great character and I love the actor but in the comics, Wong is basically Kung Fu Alfred Pennyworth.

Maybe in the MCU the Sorcerer Supreme (or Interim Champion) automatically gets an Avengers ID?
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 6/7/2024, 2:21 PM
@Batmangina - I tend to like the idea of certain type to have a direct line with the Avengers and specialists/consultants when needed (why there is a comic list of assoc character who have joined forces with Avengers at times but never full members) so makes sense if there is a multiverse type threat coming that would fall to there being contact between the Avengers team leader and the sorcerer supreme as it falls within his domain moreso than any other character out there (and is training the girl who can punch holes in the barriers between timelines).

That isn't to say I would want Wong as much as I love my fellow Salfordian to be considered a full Avenger members, quite the opposite, but called upon and consulting with when needed is always fair (and don't want Chavez as a member of the team either but could be of use in a multiverse narrative).

@Apophis71 - Agreed. The OG Marvel Comics were exactly that - a loosely affiliated bunch of heroes (usually in NYC) that would work together when warranted or when the odd Team-Up book forced a co-op mission.

One of my favorite setups was Ben Grimm's poker game - Marvel Two In One #51 is the perfect example. A totally rando assortment at a card game end up on the job.

Same thing with how everyone in the entire universe that ever got so much as a parking ticket used Nelson and Murdock as attorneys.

The MCU could use some of that action and not the force fed Disney method.

What about She hulk? And Skaar? And Moon Knight? And Moon Chick? And Shang Chi? And Eternals? And Kamala? And America Chavez? And Clea? And about 37 other characters Disney threw at the screen that went nowhere? Can they have an appearence?

Yes that’s why they are hitting the panic button and trying to add as many characters as possible to make it New Cap and Friends.

I just hope the focus is still on Sam like it was on Steve in Civil War , or it’ll get a lot of criticism.

What are the odds that 616 Strange dies before getting the title of Sorcerer Supreme back?

For some reason I always assumed that Feige and Marvelconsidered Strange and Cumberbatch one of the “good”(aka safe) male characters/actors. Looking back on things though, it makes complete sense that they would continue to sideline/downplay him when you consider the reported reasons/comments Feige made in reference to removing Strange from the initial ending for “Wandavision” bc he didn’t think it was right for a “white male” to come in and save the day and show her how to control her powers. Such a crock of shit

I personally like Wong as a character-as does majority of the fanbase from what I see. It’s very similar to what’s going on with Sam and the whole Cap persona. We as fans just want to see the characters in the forms/roles/costumes that they spent a majority of their history.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 6/7/2024, 2:29 PM
@BruceWayng - As much as I don't want it to happen I sadly think it is more likely at some point Wong is killed putting Strange back into the job but figured using the snap to promote Wong temp gave Stephen more freedom to go off and have solo adventures narratively and not being as tethered to the office so to speak.
