Rumored New Details About CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD, ECHO, And IRONHEART's Reshoots Emerge

Big changes are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we now have some rumoured updates about plans for Captain America: Brave New World, Echo, and Ironheart's reshoots. Possible spoilers follow...

By JoshWilding - Dec 21, 2023 07:12 AM EST

After a rocky couple of years, Marvel Studios is setting out to put the MCU back on the right track. That's included going back to the drawing board with Daredevil: Born Again and delaying several titles to ensure they arrive with finished visual effects and stories which don't underwhelm fans.

Today, scooper Daniel Richtman has shared an update on where things stand with some of those movies and TV shows, including Captain America: Brave New World.

He says the action scenes are indeed the main thing they're changing for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up, but there are issues with the second act as well. The plan is to make the movie flow better as some scenes were dragging, hence why Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton has been hired for rewrites.

We also have an update on Ironheart. The Disney+ series finished shooting last year but we've heard nothing concrete since. There's been speculation about the visual effects work slowing things down and rumours Marvel Studios wants to release it in closer proximity to Armor Wars

Well, Richtman believes more reshoots are needed, a sign perhaps that it's yet another MCU project which needs saving.

As for Echo, you'll recall that we recently told you about plans for the series to end with Maya Lopez setting up a P.I. agency in New York City where she's then enlisted by Daredevil to take down The Kingpin. Later, we heard about a possible change and the leaker claims that's down to Maya no longer being a lock for Daredevil: Born Again. We will, however, get a tease for Wilson Fisk's planned Mayoral campaign.

Finally, there are some tidbits on the next Avengers movie too.

"The idea is to include Kang in some capacity in Avengers 5. The plan is to start shooting in 2024, now specifically late 2024," Richtman states. "They are searching for a director and one should be announced in the coming months. The first Avengers movie will have a more limited amount of Avengers."

We'll see what happens but as frustrating as these delays are for fans, it's good to know Marvel Studios is taking steps to ensure these stories are as good as they possibly can be.

"The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine," Feige said earlier this year, laying the groundwork for what's proven to be a significant overhaul with how the MCU's output is handled. It's just a shame it was too late for Secret Invasion and The Marvels!

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I don't remember a ton from the Hawkeye series, but shouldn't Echo be arrested for something? How is she going to set up as a P.I. when I'm sure she was committing various crimes while working for Kingpin?

@PatchesOhulihan - Havent you learned anything from Falcon & Winter Soldier, when a tough woman kills and murders for a cause THEY are the victim and it's the US government that needs to do better hello

Thank God that all the MCU movies that had massive reshoots at the eleventh hour all kicked major ass and were hugely successful!

Itwasme - 12/21/2023, 9:08 AM
@Batmangina - all MCU films have reshoots. It's baked into their process, and one thing that initial differentiated the studio behind the scenes. Now other studios are adopting that approach and pre-booking time and budgets to make it standard.

Is any of this news? FFS, I could be a scooper by just repeating the same things everyone else already knows every week.

@TheFinestSmack - Here's a scoop. Apparently those Avengers movie that don't have directors? Word on the street is they're looking for directors.

Apparently Kevin wants there to be Avengers in those movies too.

Kang may or may not be a factor anymore.

Look at me, ma, I'm a scooper!

@ObserverIO - Hey fellow scooper! You correctly scooped that these Avengers movies are indeed looking for directors. However I just got a BIG scoop that apparently they're going to announce who these directors are sometime between now and when the films are released.

The MCU just is a dribble of creative juices. Does the general public know or even care for these characters? There doesn't seem to be a driver at the wheel anymore.
Vigor
Vigor - 12/21/2023, 8:08 AM
@CaptainCheese - the general public didn't care about the avengers, or guardians. And then they were made to care to resounding success

They are just trying to repeat that magic.
YouCray04
YouCray04 - 12/21/2023, 8:49 AM
@Vigor - They were made to care by comic fans saying "come and watch the new Avengers movie with me" and spreading the word about a historic superhero team-up/cinematic crossover film. The problem is even the fans don't care about characters they're pushing now. Agatha Harkness? Echo? Kang as the big bad after Thanos? Come on.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 12/21/2023, 9:19 AM
@YouCray04 - That is the problem right there and we're all just too modest to say it.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/21/2023, 9:58 AM
@YouCray04 - i think it was people liking the movies but sure comic fans or whatever
YouCray04
YouCray04 - 12/21/2023, 11:17 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - Well, yeah, that as well. But are you suggesting that the MCU succeeded on merit alone, and not in part due to its existing fanbase and the hype of a cinematic crossover/event film? I don't know about you, but I introduced 2 friends to the Avengers, who then went and watched all of the lead up films. I also went to see it with my wife, and then again with her parents (who definitely wouldn't have watched it otherwise). I also probably wouldn't have watched it multiple times in the cinema if I wasn't already a Marvel fan.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/21/2023, 11:29 AM
@YouCray04 - it certainly helped but as we see it doesn’t really matter if a comic property has preexisting fans , if the GA doesn’t like it / doesn’t show up then from a studio perspective who cares

The MCU needs to go back how it was, f*ck all these new characters that no one gives a shit about. Just give us the characters that are decent who wants Ironheart when you can have Iron Man, who wants Shuri when you can T'Challa Black Panther, who wants the She-Hulk we got when we can have The Hulk, sort your shit out and bring back Steve Rogers as Captain America.

What's the story behind Amor Wars?
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 12/21/2023, 8:38 AM
@lazlodaytona - Basic upshot, what was sorta teased in Iron Man 2, in that a lot of parties were developing Iron Man like Armor.. R&D timeframe for all that now due and/or actual Stark tech falling into the wrong hands now that he is gone.

Based on the comic book story of the same name, Armor Wars will deal with Tony Stark's worst nightmare coming true as his tech falls into the wrong hands, forcing Rhodey to take action.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 12/21/2023, 9:01 AM
@Apophis71 - Ok. Thanks.
Does that mean we have more Gweneth Paltrow as Iron-Girl or whatever?

@lazlodaytona - Rescue, lol.
marvel72
marvel72 - 12/21/2023, 9:30 AM
@lazlodaytona - Armour Wars without Tony Stark.

Apophis71
Apophis71 - 12/21/2023, 9:33 AM
@lazlodaytona - VERY unlikely we get Rescue I think beyond MAYBE a small cameo but not impossible by any means, feel they are more likely to look towards Tony's daughter coming of age being the first time we see that again.

Cheadle suggested the film may deal with his feeling regarding the death of his friend and that along with investigating type stuff could result in him crossing paths with Pepper but her suited up I doubt even if not impossible it could occur.

Pepper without Tony just don't think works, Pepper with a teen daughter is a whole other matter down the road but a while before that as was at max four years old in Endgame.

Yes this “news….” These scoopers just regurgitate the same thing over and over but in a different way to make it seem like they’ve got updates or new information. Not to mention, it could all be made up.

"The first Avengers movie will have a more limited amount of Avengers."

That does not sound like a massive multiversal war to me.

The first Avengers movie should Endgame times a million with everybody from everywhere, leading towards the creation of Battleworld and Secret Wars, which should be more of a sprawling GOT epic.

I've been underwhelmed by the MCU as there was just too much coming out for me to keep up with. I'm a ride-or-die for the MCU, and will trust they're going to do right.

Ironheart - Who cares? NO ONE!

FalCap BNW - Get away from all the put upon angsty boo hoo crap they drowned us in with FalCap & WS.

Bringing in Moonknight writer - Bad news! Moonknight sucked!

Armor Wars - How needed is this? It will probably get shoehorned in awkwardly at some point to feature black Iron Man. If this project died & disappeared, no one would even care or notice.

Cross fingers that they get Echo right & don't ruin that character.

it would make sense for doom to steal kang's tech and stayed masked for several movies until they cast just the right actor to play him... then i need reed to get involved in ant-man and take charge of the quantum tech and to have ant-man stay out of it. you no longer need to be the guy controlling 'smallness' tech to go to the quantum realm.

ant-man makes a better street level hero than quantum realm hero.

let reed get techy with it. let reed do quantum exploring and mapping of the realm. let reed map the multiverse and the other realms... let reed interact with other galaxies as a representative of earth.

carol shouldn't be a lead,
carol should be muscle. she hasn't the knowledge for it.

stark could have been this role but he's too earthbound in his desires... protect this little world...
stark needs to stay earthbound like superman until push comes to shove.

hulk needs to stay earthbound except with regards to sakaar.

thor should travel no more than beyond what he has already travelled as he has to restore what has been destroyed with ragnarok. he destroyed not only asgard but those other realms that depended on asgard for protection and peace.

BP needs to stay earth bound until needed elsewhere due to events like secret wars.

GOTG needs to be planet hoppers and not stay long on earth (or at all).

Strange can deal with the dark side of the universe and not pop in and out of different universes.

spiderman is earth bound and street level.

DD is street level.

Ghost rider is earth bound and street level and dark.

xmen are for the most part earthbound and street level.
xavier can delve into some other regions like strange but more or less is earthbound.

wanda is earthbound and dark.

not unlike a good role playing game the MCU needs to limit their heroes to certain power sets, certain specialities and certain counterparts they work best with.
