CBM's Sunday Showdown: Who's The Better Superhero - CAPTAIN AMERICA Or SUPERMAN?

CBM's Sunday Showdown pits two heroes (or villains) against each other to let you, our loyal readers, decide which of them deserves to be crowned the better comic book character.

Cap1

Introduced in the pages of Captain America Comics #1 in 1941, Steve Rogers became a superhero kids could rally around during World War II, but was later taken off ice by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the pages of 1964's now classic The Avengers #4. It didn't take long for him to be established as one of the Marvel Universe's greatest heroes, and he's since been the focal point of many huge storylines, including "Civil War," "The Winter Soldier," and "Secret Empire."

On the big screen, Chris Evans played Captain America for the first time in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, though his tenure as the character reached its end in Avengers: Endgame last year.

Captain America will live on, though, in upcoming Disney+ TV series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. In the comic books, Steve once again holds the mantle and will soon face the Red Skull again.

Supes

Superman's shield is one of the most iconic pieces of imagery on the planet, and that says a lot about how the Man of Steel resonates with people across the globe. More than just an American icon, Clark Kent's story as an immigrant from another world who makes a home on ours is familiar to many, and he's done an awful lot since first debuting in the pages of 1938's Action Comics #1.

Since then, Superman has undergone countless transformations, had a tonne of different origin stories, and saved the entire Multiverse more times than we can count. It's not remotely hard to see why the DC Universe so often rallies around the Man of Tomorrow, and he's made an impact both in film and television for decades now with a long list of actors taking on the role of a lifetime.

Right now, it's Henry Cavill who carries the burden of playing Superman, and the hope is that following the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, he'll get chance to take flight once again.

There's no denying that both Captain America and Superman are two of the world's greatest superheroes, but we want you to decide which of them is better! You can do that by casting your vote in the poll below, while we'd love to also hear your thoughts in the comments section. Be sure to check back here next week for the results and another instalment of CBM's Sunday Showdown.

If you have any characters you think should be pitted against each other here, let us know!
