Cobie Smulders Talks CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 And Reacts To THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Revealing whether she's in The Avengers: Age of Ultron (as of now), actress Cobie Smulders has talked about returning as Maria Hill in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Cobie Smulders spoke with Crave Online while promoting How I Met Your Mother's final season, and discussed reprising her Maria Hill role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and possibly in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Confirming that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s whereabouts during Iron Man 3 will be addressed in The Winter Soldier, the actress says, “It’s an entirely different movie [from The Avengers] too. It’s very much reality based and they try to bring the character into the world of now. He was very much affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D. so watching that dynamic play out is what the movie is. He’s working very closely with Romanoff, Scarlett [Johansson], so that’s the pairing to focus on.” Crave Online also managed to get Cobie Smulders' reaction to Joss Whedon's The Avengers sequel title, Age of Ultron. “I don’t know much about Ultron. I have some reading to do, but I’m excited. This is the mystery of Marvel. I don’t know how Maria Hill is affiliated with the Avengers sequel but we’ll see. I’m excited to read the script if it comes my way.” Make the jump over to Crave Online for Cobie Smulders' thoughts on appearing in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

I wouldn't mind if Tony became her boss by the end of Avengers 2. :)

I doubt Sam Jackson will appear on SHIELD tv show but Smulders should become a full time cast member.

Lol...reality was never part of this ordeal lady... If that's the case, reality ended when Tony built a nearly limitless power source in a cave, made of palladium no less (which I have bricks of in my safe), and flew out a mile into the air, landed in the sand head first and got up and walked away. Reality based...pff...lol...she must be stupid, that's cute

And then a god from the 11th century appeared and used magic to make the bad giant robot go away...lol...could totally happen

We are not watching these films because we think they could happen people!

@Mrbucket...yea, Batman is about as close to reality as you are going to get...at least of his villains are also just super smart and evil...well, original villains....I think that if anyone walks into a theatre to watch a superhero movie believing it can really happen, and they are not 9, they should have to put that on their job applications...lol

I love IM1, but even if you believe that technology can come close to that suit in the next 100 years, and that one movie, that particular situation is possible at all, you still have to look at the beating he takes in that suit...everything about IM1 is awesome, but I remember seeing him land, and I have jumped out of a lot of planes, not happening. Dude my knees and back are shot landing over and over again with a parachute, let alone landing on your head in 1500 pounds of metal. Try jumping from a plane, you are falling at 100+ mph and even with the shoot you the ground hard enough to kill you if you land wrong...lol...ok. I'm done with my rant

Looking forward to Cap 2 more than I was Iron Man 3 and more than I am Thor 2. Avengers 2 is my top most anticipated Marvel movie though.

Why must everyone on the internet limit things to absolutes? She basically said Captain America: TWS will deal with stuff closer to reality than other Marvel movies have. She's not saying that they're Nolanizing it with a 'no superpowers' rule or anything. Just because there are superpowers and aliens and stuff in the MCU doesn't mean they always have to focus on them. They can deal with more realistic stuff as well, within the same universe. In fact, it might be a nice change of pace for the franchise, seeing as it will only be in one movie (out of 11 movies by the end of Phase Two).

Ugh...you have no imagination.

We have materials right now that are as strong as Iron Man's suit. Look up Graphene. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphene

All Graphene is,is Carbon that has been slightly altered. The product is a material that is virtually indestructible.

Carbon is [frick]ing everywhere and has been since the Earth and before...all it took were a few great minds to look at it a different way and turn it into Graphene.

If we are playing at the boundaries of ultra science, who's to say what happens to Palladium or any other element in the near or far future? If poking at the Atoms of Carbon can produce virtual adamantium... then anything seems possible. Including altering palladium somehow being the secret to manufacturing a miniature cold-fusion reactor.

They just invented transparent aluminum:

@ inhuman

I'm pretty sure CA:TWS takes place like a year after Avengers, at the Marvel panel they discussed how Rogers and Romanoff had been partners on missions for over a year before the new film even starts...

I'm almost 100% positive that Smulders Hill will be a huge part of the SHIELD show now, especially that her commitments to HIMYM are coming to an end, I don't see why she would become a part of the regular cast. I mean you have to realize that it all makes sense now as to why Marvel cast a tv star in that role, they knew the show was coming for sure and wanted someone who was okay being caught up in a show for awhile...

@AC1

Agreed. Marvel knows what they're doing. Captain America should be and is a more serious movie because Steve Rogers is a more serious character. Tony Stark doesn't take things seriously and in the Avengers you could see how that conflicted with Rogers. Annoyed at Stark's attitude, he even asks "is everything a joke to you?" And in the Thor: The Dark World prequel comic, Thor is also annoyed at Iron Man's jesting while they're in the middle of battling the Chitauri. The tone of the movies reflect the tone of the character(s).

@MitchConner

By "Reality Based" she means the way people would react to things like this happening in real life. More in the vein of Man of Steel how Superman's story was more reality based it wasn't just people falling in love with a flying super strong alien they feared him at first much like we would if we came across something like that.

That's what she meant, so relax.

Just about the same realism as TDK Series or MOS.
