Marvel Expanding Their Search For Captain America!!

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios & director Joe Johnston are expanding their search for Captain America.

It seems they aren't too sure about John Krasinski.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston want to be really sure they’ve found the right actor to star in The First Avenger: Captain America.

Marvel has slightly expanded its search—adding actors that I’m told include Chris Evans, who already logged Marvel Comics superhero time as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in two Fantastic Four films. Of the original contenders, two are still in serious contention: Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy).

Hedlund was on Marvel’s original wish list but didn't test at first. Scheduling was cited, but I also heard his reps balked when Marvel informed them that the job would include options for 9 future films and a salary around $300,000.

It’s not going to work out for the other actors who tested: Chace Crawford (CW's Gossip Girl), John Krasinski (NBC's The Office), Scott Porter (NBC's Friday Night Lights), Michael Cassidy (CW's Privileged) or Patrick Flueger (Brothers).

I'd rather the film be pushed back and they find the right guy then for them to 'just cast it already'. I'm glad they're expanding the search.

I'm All For Chris Evans as Cap. Hell yeah.

Marvel obviously isn't 100 percent on Krasinski, so they want to go even further with their search, really expanding their search.

Chris evans would make a better cap than Krasinski. But then again anybody can be a better cap than Krasinski as long as you look the part and decent acting skills then you qualify as better than Krasinski. Krasinski would suck.

Holy shit. I was just thinking a few weeks ago that Evans would be an awesome Cap...if he wasn't already Human Torch.

If he wasn't already Johnny, he'd be one of my top choices for the role. He was excellent in Sunshine with the serious role he had. He was especially effective in his final scene. But alas, his history as the Torch makes him a bit disqualified. But if Evans got it, I'd be psyched.

But good news. I am a fan of Krasinski, he's charismatic and like-able, but he really is totally wrong for Cap.

I hope they get Hedlund to be the "Chris Hemsworth" of the Cap casting, in that he comes out of nowhere to take the role from an already released list of actors in consideration.

So, personally, I'm hoping Hedlund or Ackles (even though he doesn't really have much of a shot, f*cking CW). No Vogel though, he's tiny and I can't say much of anything positive about his acting.

I think of the remaining group Chris Evans would be my pick. Mind you I am not an expert on acting, writing or directing, but I think he fits better than the rest.

Hopefully Marvel have seen the negative reaction from fans towards Krasinski and even if they dont cast a fan favourite like Ackles, they'll at least go for a better chocie than some big nosed, B-Grade comedian isnt fit to look at Cap's shield never mind wield it! I'm actually feeling a little better about this movie now!!!
