Neal McDonough On Returning As 'Dum Dum Dugan' In A Future Marvel Movie Or TV Series

After appearing in Captain America: The First Avenger and the Agent Carter one-shot, Neal McDonough talks here about the chances of him reprising the role of 'Dum Dum Dugan' either in a future Marvel movie or the rumoured TV series which will star Hayley Atwell's 'Peggy Carter'.

"I'll be going into the office next week and take a peek at it with the guys, 'cause they were talking about...I mean what a perfect series this would be," Justified star Neal McDonough said when IGN asked him about the chances of him returning as 'Dum Dum Dugan' - after first debuting as the character in Captain America: The First Avenger - in ABC's rumoured Agent Carter TV series. "You've got S.H.I.E.L.D. on now, and this would be like a 1940s S.H.I.E.L.D. It's pretty great stuff. I would love to do it. Dum Dum's one of my favorite characters I've ever played. He's just so much fun. You know he's just another barrel-chested, beer drinking, good guy. And I really like that. I'd have to go gain 20 pounds again. But, hey, what are you gonna do?"

However, while the actor appears unsure about where and when we will next see him as 'Dum Dum Dugan', he's clearly been giving a big screen return some thought as well. "I learned about that! Nick Fury took a super serum [in the comics] and he got shot and the blood got onto Dum Dum. Then he was frozen in the '60s in a river when his wife and kid were killed, and he was woken up in the '70s or something, and Nick Fury was there to tell him the news, which just rocked his world. But he was still 40-something-years-old. He aged quicker than Nick but slower than all human beings, so he's still around. He's still there. So I'm praying that Dum Dum comes around somewhere soon because everyone loved Dum Dum and I love playing him." Would you like to see McDonough back as the Howling Commando member in a future Captain America movie or even something like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Hopefully the 1940s shield will be a bit more serious about life.

Just realised something today about Captain America: The Winter Soldier - it's Austin Powers but for serious.

The Peggy Carter series already seems like a very interesting show, that will utilise comic characters much better than AoS.

Been watching Combat on MeTV and if a Howling Commandos could be that good (and there's no reason why it shouldn't) it would be a fine marvel show.

I'm really hoping Marvel doesn't try to homogenize all their projects. I'd much rather each be distinctly different in look, feel and tone. And why not? Each comic tends to have a different tone that's dictated by the character and the writer and editor. And each comic artist brings a different look to the books.
