REVIEW: Captain America - Good, Not Great...

The First Avenger is an entertaining film, but still falls short.

Upon seeing Captain America: The First Avenger I felt entertained, but not completely satisfied.

Simply put, this movie was good but I still felt that the film could have amounted to so much more than it did. The movie begins starts at the end, which was a nice way to begin and got me really excited. The introduction of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes (sorry if misspelled) was great the movie had great flow up until Rogers discovered what he was capable of. The movie then spent way too much time on Captain America road show and then once he really got into being Captain America new costume and all, there was no real excitement. There was a 1-2 minute montage of the action Captain America saw.

In short I felt that what was holding Captain America back from greatness was its pacing. Great at the beginning but fell off as it went on. They spent way too much time with Cap being a gimmick, and could have shortened that to extend that montage into a really good action sequence.

In the end, this is just my opinion, it was still entertaining but I was left wanting more. One thing is for sure though...Avengers will be kick-ass!
Tell me what you thought, assuming this gets read. Oh and take it easy on me, im a newbie!

I am going to see the movie today. I have mixed feelings about it because while the trailers look gorgeous the action scenes, so far, look somewhat boring. I will give it a fair chance though. Thanks for your review.

Iron Man is an awesome movie, but when I watched Captain America the only problem I saw with the movie was the "cliffhanger" ...Ironman ended perfectly with him saying "I am Iron-Man"...This movie well, I dont wanna give spoilers or ruin anything for anyone....But, I felt Chris Evan really captured the character well, and he was a good choice. As Robert Downy Jr is to Iron Man, Chris Evans is to Good ole' Cap. [Erasing Human Torch existence out of brain]
