CAPTAIN MARVEL Early Box Office Tracking Predicts A $100 Million Opening Weekend

Captain Marvel hit tracking this morning, and early estimates point to a very impressive $100 million opening weekend for Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) first big-screen adventure. More past the jump...

Captain Marvel flew onto tracking today, and early industry estimates are predicting that Marvel Studios' next sure-to-be blockbuster will reach $100 million over the course of its opening weekend on March 8.

Typically, Marvel's solo origin movies come in just under the $100M mark (exceptions being the first Iron Man and, of course, Black Panther), so this would be an impressive feat for Brie Larson's space-faring hero - although Deadline's report does seem to suggest that a hundred mil might be a generous estimate.

Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast still stakes claim to the highest March opening weekend ever with $174.7M, followed by Warner Bros.' Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice with $166M.

Tell us, do you plan on catching Captain Marvel opening weekend? Drop us a comment down below, and check out the most recent TV spot along with some fun photos from Larson's shoot with THR.

For the record, Wonder Woman was tracking for $65-75M in its opening and Black Panther for $120-150M over four days. Not that $100M isn't insane for an unknown character already, but I see it going higher, further, faster.

@Poochie - yeah except everyone that has caught IW (a $2 billion dollar movie) has a good idea she is the one being called at the end... which leads to huge desire to catch her story...

@JonC - that doesn't mean they know who she is so that makes her unknown character still.

@knocturnalzen10 - It WAS higher.... a week ago. That's what's so funny about this ridiculous article with its spin of "this would be an impressive feat for Brie Larson's space-faring hero." Really?

So we're just going to ignore facts, now, and pretend this is good news in comparison, huh? Ghostbusters, Star Wars, She-Ra, and now Captain Marvel all have something toxic in common. Gee, I wonder what that is?

@Luminus - the $160 million was pure speculation from sources. This is the the first official tracking.

Yep, wouldn't be surprised if this hit a billion. At the very least, it'll make 800 mil+.
