CAPTAIN MARVEL Enlists 4x Academy Award-Nominated Actress Annette Bening In A Key Role
Annette Bening is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to a new report, the 4x Academy Award-nominated actress has signed on for key role in 2019's Captain Marvel. Come take a look!
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Annette Bening has joined the cast of Marvel's Captain Marvel, which is due out in theaters March 2019.
While details on her key role remain under wraps, THR adds that her character is expected to be a scientist, although Variety's ace, Justin Kroll, was told that she'll actually be playing Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) mother, Marie. Since not much is known about Carol's mother in the comics, it remains to be seen whether she's been retconned to be a scientist that plays a part in examining her daughter after her transformation.
Filming is currently underway in the Los Angeles area with Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck in the directors' chairs. Geneva Robertson-Dworet penned the most recent script, after previous drafts were turned in by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.
Brie Larson headlines the cast that also features Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, Robert Kazinsky, and now, Annette Bening.
Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
