It’s no surprise that Marvel values its secrecy in the face of its millions of fans fervently awaiting each installment of their beloved Cinematic Universe. Even then, it’s not easy to keep details from leaking out, as we’ve seen in the last week regarding the recent official confirmation regarding Jude Law’s role in Captain Marvel.

According to an unconfirmed report from We Got This Covered, they spoke with a source that claimed to be at an initial screening for the upcoming Marvel film, and they had some news regarding one of the biggest questions on fans’ minds: Will Mar-Vell appear in any capacity? Potentially massive spoilers are to follow if this report is true, so this is your last chance to turn away!

This is what the apparent source has to say:

When Carol encounters the Supreme Intelligence, it projects an image of someone from Carol’s memories to her and that’s who Carol sees the Supreme Intelligence as. The Supreme Intelligence projects itself as someone different to everyone it encounters – think of the Bogart in Harry Potter, only this involves happiness rather than primal fear – but to Carol, it projects itself as a woman who Brie Larson’s heroine thinks is her mom. However, we soon learn that this woman isn’t her mom. Rather, it’s a Kree in disguise who was a doctor on Earth that saved Carol. But this isn’t just any Kree: it’s Mar-Vell, played in this instance by Annette Bening.”

Captain Marvel will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019, leading up to Avengers: Endgame, which will bookend the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So just to appease a few mutha[frick]as, he’s gonna be a woman?!? Was he a woman before in the comics?

@Origame - There was a recent run where Carol’s mom was a Kree named Mari-Ell, so there’s a precedent.

Also, Mar-Vell isn’t real. So who cares.

@BestAtWhatIDo - cant you say that about anything in pop culture? Why get mad at fant4stic? Its not real. Why care about ghostbusters? They arent real. Why care about the characters in last jedi? They arent real.

And the difference is that Mar-Vell was a superhero in his own right. One who not only gave carol her powers, but also the inspiration to be a hero. There was a legacy here. Like peter parker and miles morales. What they did here was make peter into a woman and pointlessly related to carol. They could have easily just make mar vell a legendary kree carol looks up to or even just not mention him and leave the mother as mari ell. They didnt do that because feminism. And no, im not just using it to blame the movie. They literally called it a feminist movie. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjCyv7Jmc7gAhVL2oMKHY-sDWAQzPwBegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmashable.com%2Farticle%2Fcaptain-marvel-brie-larson-set-visit-interview%2F&psig=AOvVaw0w-q1034DwjcYBP8uS9c8m&ust=1550885697561781

@Origame - I mean, I didn’t get mad at any of those things. It’s art, it’s always open to reinterpretation. If it works, who cares.

@BestAtWhatIDo - well its clearly being done to push a feminist propaganda.

@superbigguy32 - Actually... yes.

Carol Danvers is literally a female Mar-Vell.

All her memories of being a Kree are of her being a female named Mar-Vell.

Oh boy, this does kinda upset me. Not because it’s some SJW move by changing the gender, but I really wanted Law to be Mar-Vel

@Skinwalker - This is unbelievable!! I had to chime in on this. This is bull!!!! So they are really changing the gender of one of Marvel's beloved characters to make a statement?? It's bad enough that they had to change Captain Marvel's origin but to now change Mar-Vell's gender? These comics were popular because of the original formula. Now they want to ignore the fans that made these characters popular by buying the comics in the first place!! I'm tired of these so called creative changes!!

@visioneerx - Thankfully, it looks like it was a false alarm, at least I hope so.

@Skinwalker - I was wrong. It was not a false alarm and the Skrulls are refugees instead of villains.
