There's a little less than a year to go until Captain Marvel blasts into theaters but screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet (who has been doing the rounds to promote the divisive Tomb Raider reboot) has now shed a little more light on what we should expect from the upcoming Marvel Studios release.

Based on her remarks, it sounds like the movie is going to follow the comic books in terms of how Carol Danvers is portrayed, news which is sure to make fans of the source material very happy indeed.

"We really were bringing so much of what was already in the comics onto the screen, it felt like, in terms of the amazing character who’s so funny and sassy and talks back, and she’s fearless," the writer revealed during a recent chat with Collider. "I love that Carol Danvers is so funny. She has a blast when she kicks ass. Those comics are amazing! It’s an amazing world and sandbox to play in. You’re working with
incredible creative people, every day. I had a total dream experience."

As for what it's been like working with Marvel over the past couple of years, Robertson-Dworet added: "Marvel is a dream experience. It’s a very structured environment. You’re in this amazing collaborative environment, where you go in and meet with the team in person, a lot. Kevin Feige is there, multiple times a week, meeting with you and talking you through his vision of it, within how this story fits into the universe and what you want to do with the character. It was a total blast!"

"For the most part I had a long run on comic book movies and I was kind of eager to, you know, just cause it can be really crushing, you know, at times..."

@BlindWedjat - What I really like is that she seems to be the opposite of Cap, and actually does like to fight for the sake of fighting.

The hype is real, always had a soft spot for the character, i'm pretty sure they will do a better job than Marvel comics, cause nowdays...i really don't care about her, that Bendis stuff left a bad taste in my mouth... :/

So yeah, stay away from that.
And Rogue i guess...lol.

Having that immense power and just laying villains the [frick] out must be fun right?

"Danvers with the devastating energy blast!! We are witnessing greatness right now. All she can do is shrug, she doesn't even know how she pulled that off."

@BlackBeltJones - I hope she gets a moment like thor where her powers go completely zuped up and her abilities annihilate the enemy

I don't know very much about Captain Marvel so I am super excited to see this movie. I always did prefer the Ms. Marvel look though

Geneva Better watch what she says, or she will get the wrath of some angry fanboys and girls. I said the same thing about Captain Marvel on here before on how funny she was in her comics today and a couple of people cried because I didn’t mention the tragedy of her origin and how unfunny it was. 🙄

It's not that I don't want it to be fun and funny. I'd just like to start hearing a bit more about what's at the heart of the character. With Ragnarok, basically every time someone was quoted about the movie, they were talking about how funny it was. Not surprisingly the balance between humor and emotion/storytelling was off in that movie. Give me an Iron Man or Homecoming type experience that's thoroughly fun but strikes the balance.

I would absolutely kill to get a bi-monthly documentary style E! special on what it's like working with/at Marvel Studios. I'm sure it's not always the sunshine and rainbows like people say it is, but that level of collaboration is unprecedented in Hollywood which makes the consistently great results that much more amazing
