A photo of some new tie-in merchandise for The Marvels has been shared online, and it appears to confirm a long-standing rumor relating to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and the character played by Park Seo-Joon.
Potential spoilers follow.
These McDonalds Happy Meal toys list Seo-Joon's character as Prince Yan, and there's also an alternate version of Captain Marvel called Princess Carol, which would seem to suggest that these two will indeed be married at some point in the Marvel Studios sequel.
This probably won't come as too much of a surprise, since the initial rumor claimed that Danvers would "get a husband," and the first trailer led to speculation that Seo-Joon had been cast as Yan.
Whether their marriage will play out the same way as it does in the comics remains to be seen, but something tells us Carol won't be settling down to play house with the Prince by the time the movie ends!
"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
The film also stars Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.
The Marvels hits U.S. theaters on November 10
