Samuel L. Jackson shared an Instagram post yesterday which teased his imminent return as Nick Fury. We initially assumed it was for Secret Invasion, but since production hasn't kicked-off (as far as we know) on the Disney+ show yet, speculation arose that it might be for The Marvels.
Now, Jackson appears to have confirmed that he is indeed preparing to shoot the Captain Marvel sequel with a follow-up post.
Though the photo itself is not MCU-related (the actor is simply giving us a look at his rather awesome Jules Winfield Pulp Fiction tee), one of the accompanying hashtags reads #TheMarvels. Jackson wasn't officially announced as a returning cast member, but after playing such a pivotal part in the first film, it only makes sense that he'd drop in for a catch-up with his old ally Carol Danvers (Brie Larson).
Plot details for Captain Marvel 2 are still under wraps (you can check out a vague logline here), but we do know that Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani will make her big-screen debut as Kamala Khan, and WandaVision's Teyonah Parris will reprise the role of Monica Rambeau. British actress Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat, Velvet Buzzsaw) is also on board as the main villain.
DaCosta will direct from a script by WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell. The Marvels is set to fly into theaters on November 11, 2022.
