THE MARVELS Star Iman Vellani's MCU Knowledge Was Invaluable On Set; New Promo Art Released

We know Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan) is a big MCU nerd, and the young actress' vast knowledge proved to be invaluable to her cast-mates and director while filming The Marvels...

Yesterday, we got a look at some new stills from The Marvels, and thanks to new promo art via the MCU sequel's McDonald's promotional campaign (via CoveredGeekly.com), we now have another look at Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamla Khan (Iman Vellani) suited-up for action.

Vellani, who debuted as Khan in the Disney+ Ms. Marvel series, was a huge Marvel fan before she ever joined the franchise, and it sounds like her encyclopedic knowledge of the MCU was a benefit to her cast and crew-mates while filming the sequel.

According to EW, the unofficial motto on set was: "If you don't know, ask Iman Vellani."

"I've just learned to trust Iman because she really has her timelines in order," Larson tells the site. "She's the one that's always schooling us. I wouldn't know how old Carol is without her. She really does the math."

A second trailer for The Marvels was recently classified, and should be with us fairly soon. In the meantime, check out the new promo art below.

"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

The film also stars Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.

The Marvels hits U.S. theaters on November 10

The Marvels had better have an AMAZING second trailer, because this movie has less buzz going for it than Quantumania.

@santoanderson - no way this is worse than Quantumania. Quantumania was a CRIME for real.

@GhostDog - Worse or better is subjective. I’d say it would be tough to be a movie I disliked more than Quantumania.

But less hype seems to be true, at least now a few months out. And a lower Box Office take is possible, even if it is a “better” movie.

@mountainman - I can't stand Quantumania.

I think there's still time to push marketing on this thing but it could underperform idk. Forget first made $1 billion. I think marvel is in a period of potential change. Things feel pretty dim with excitement for their projects and I would figure they know that. Post strike they gotta come correct and get that magic back.

@GhostDog - Quantumania was really bad. Not as bad as Thor L&T in my opinion, but not much better.

I didn’t like Ant Man 2 either, but it was Citizen Kane compared to part 3.

I doubt The Marvels will make much more than Ant Man 3 if it even does. That movie had the hype of Kang and this big multiverse set up.

This one has no hype. I get the first made bank, but it was sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame and was marketed at being far more integral than it was.

Also, Captain Marvel isn’t a hugely hyped characters in general. She has her fans, but I would put her popularity as similar to Ant Man’s. Ms Marvel and Photon are both from the shows, which have limited viewers, and likely won’t draw in huge crowds. The villain is a F lister. And the first trailer was lackluster.

Maybe the marketing picks up and this builds hype. I’m just not seeing that right now.

Very cool that Velani is flexing her fan powers on set. I'd love to see her take on a more hands-on role on the production side as she continues to develop as a talent.

Also, how is this the first time I've read that synopsis? Sounds like a banger.

This movie looks fun as hell. I think the extended break between this and Guardians will be really good for the MCU

This movie will be a bigger BOMB than OPPENHEIMER but for different reasons You guys who think this'll be a hit are looking at this like RABID MCU fans and not from a General Audiences perspective. There's NOTHING here to bring in General Audiences in large numbers. Ms Marvel although a cute show had extremely low ratings on D+. I think Kevin Fiege KNOWS this will fail big time.

@JohnShaft - I hope that was wit, because there's no way Oppenheimer bombs. Literally impossible lol

So a no named teen actress knows more about this franchise than the people making a show set in this universe?

Why tf is it this hard to hire people who can just watch the f@#$ing movies? Or do some research into the matter?
