Though Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce the project, the trades recently reported that Sam Wilson's (Anthony Mackie) adventures will continue on the big screen in Captain America 4, and we may know who he'll be squaring off with in the movie.
That Hashtag Show reports that Red Skull's biological daughter Sinthea Schmidt, aka Sin, is being lined up as the main villain of the piece. Apparently, a casting call has gone out looking for a "Kate Mara type" to play the character.
Emily VanCamp is also said to be returning as Sharon Carter/Power Broker, but Kevin Feige is said to have altered her role after the negative reaction to her arc in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so she's not expected to serve as a primary antagonist.
While the source has had some big scoops pan out in the past, we're not so quick to buy this one. It's entirely possible that a script (at least a first draft) exists, but would Marvel really be sending out casting calls so early on in the development process? As we said earlier, the studio hasn't even acknowledged that the project is in the works yet.
All that being said, it would make sense for Steve Rogers' successor to find himself up against the child of Captain America's nemesis, so introducing Sin to the MCU seems like a smart move.
What do you guys think? Do you buy this rumor? If so, who would you like to see cast in the role of Sinthea Schmidt? Drop us a comment down below.
