THE MARVELS Star Brie Larson Hints She's Wrapped Work On The Sequel With New Behind The Scenes Photo

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has taken to social media to share a behind the scenes photo from the set of The Marvels teasing the HERo's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2023. Check it out...

Brie Larson has made three appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since debuting in 2019's Captain Marvel, including Avengers: Endgame and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The latter two movies were basically just cameos, of course, but Carol Danvers will once again take centre stage alongside Ms. Marvel and Spectrum in The Marvels.

While shooting on the sequel wrapped last year, the Oscar-winner Tweeted out a photo from the movie's set yesterday, simply saying: "See you in a year, Carol."

It's possible Larson was just referring to the fact that The Marvels is now one year away from hitting theaters, though there is some speculation online that the actress may have just wrapped reshoots. Either way, the movie - which will be set in the present day - promises to reveal more about Carol's place in the MCU and establish Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau as superheroes in their own right.

The latter was introduced in WandaVision and gained her abilities thanks to the Hex created around Westview by the Scarlet Witch. Kamala, meanwhile, will become Ms. Marvel in her own Disney+ series. We don't really know what to expect beyond that, but the movie will likely tie into Secret Invasion.

The Marvels is set to be released in theaters on February 17, 2023.

She's had the short end of the stick on this. Playing a character that's brainwashed (or at least inhibited) is a rough gig, and she hasn't had enough screen time in Endgame to turn the tide. Hopefully this gives her the change to show off her personality a bit more. Carol has always been rather stoic, but she's super arrogant (deservedly so) and that can be fun to watch.

@Origame - If you can't separate her public episodes of foot in mouth from her performance then no. Otoh I could and I very much liked it. YMMV.

@JDL - Is there too much "men are bad, woman are superior" nonsense? I hate shows/films that don't know how to write female characters and instead of writing them as great characters they think they have to write them differently because of their gender. Laura from Logan is a great example on how to write great female characters by not focusing on their gender and just writing them as a great character first and foremost. Thanks in advance. Ill still check it out hoping for the best.

@JDL - I'm talking exclusively about the movie. I openly admit to hating brie Larson as a person but if the movie was good I'd call it good.

For example, I like skull island and felt she did a good job in that movie. See?

@Origame - Fair enough. Outside of a take here and there I liked the movie a lot but you honestly disagree and that's OK. BTW what bugged you about it ?

@Typhoon20 - Yes, it's certainly worth watching. It was a good movie. Middle of the pack for me in terms of the MCU as a whole. But still a fun film. Don't listen to the whiners here.

@JDL - personally it's a lot of different things. First of all, Carol really wasn't an interesting character to me. Never felt invested in her story, and it hurt that there wasn't an arc despite the story being designed around an arc.

Second, they made her way too powerful. Which might be fine unless they found some great challenge for her to overcome that required that power or challenged her in other ways. But we didn't get that so it was just ms powerful beating everyone for a couple of hours.

Lastly it seemed like all the mcu connections were half a$$Ed. Still can't forgive them for their explanation of fury's eyepatch.

@Origame - Hmm. Interesting.

Imo, ymmv, I thought they developed Carol Danvers fine and I liked her, but somewhat in line with what I see your pov being, the Capt Marvel side of her was not done quite so well.

I agree she was a little over-powered. Mainly imo in that scene of her flying through the Kree Cruiser. I would have liked it better if it was that she was too small and fast for the conventional defenses, both active and passive, and she then slipped inside and did lots of internal damage with her photon blasts. Enough to make them abandon ship.

As for the MCU connections you got Fury and Coulson. I had no problem with either and that includes Fury's eye. Sorry.

Haha...the usuals here showing their piss poor attitudes once again.

I'd honestly feel stupid as hell if that's the kind of reputation I created for myself.

Anyway, Brie is pretty great in my book. I'm excited to see what this film brings us.
