I've been a fan of Spider-Man for as long as I can remember. I watched the 90s cartoon more times than I can count on TV and I really loved the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series for quite some time. I also vividly recall having a Spider-Man book by DK Publishing that I carried with me everywhere that detailed comic book plot details, character summaries and more. Learning so many facts and details about my favorite superhero's fictional life made me all the more invested in the character and the stories. That's why I was really excited when I heard DK Publishing was releasing a new Spider-Man Character Encyclopedia.

Packed with over 200 pages of character summaries, stats, trivia, and facts, this guide allows you to go deeper into the world of Peter, his friends, family and foes...OK, mostly foes, but you get the point. Each page gives a brief summary of the character; "Spidey Status" of ally, enemy, or neutral; a Web File with their power ratings in areas like speed, intellegence, and durbalitity; and little-known facts about the character. All of the well-known and beloved characters are here, everyone from Aunt May to MJ. The book also contains characters whose appearances that aren't as well known, like Tinkerer and Scrier.

Although seasoned Marvel/Spider-Man fans will probably know many of the facts contained in the tome, it's a great refresher guide for those of us who've kept up with the webhead all these years - especially when there is so much to remember! Even myself who's loved Spdey for decades found it fun to flip through and recall all the moments in Peter's life - many characters I'd forgotten about as well. The book also serves as a fun introduction for newcomers to the Spider-Man world or children who just want to read more about the webhead.

One of the biggest highlights of this encyclopedia is all of the art contained within. Each page features multiple images of the character and artwork old and new, something all comic book fans will love to flip through. It also makes an awesome coffeetable book, which, if you're anything like me, means it's the perfect opportunity to strike up a Spider-Man conversation when your friends visit.

All in all, The Spider-Man Encyclopedia is an enjoyable refresher course for seasoned Spidey fans and an excellent introduction for those who may be new to the webhead's world. The book is available now on AmazonDK Publishing, or wherever books are sold.
