COMICS: First Look At AGE OF ULTRON VS. MARVEL ZOMBIES

One of the stranger new "Battleworld" titles spinning out of Marvel's Secret Wars event will be this new ongoing series from writer James Robinson and artist Steve Pugh, which will see The Vision, Wonder Man, and Jim Hammond taking on all manner of nasties.

This one looks... interesting. Age Of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies #1 goes on sale June 3, and will see The Vision, Wonder Man, original Human Torch Jim Hammond and another mystery character (I think it might be Tigra) exiled to a world overrun with Ultron's armies and the undead versions of the Marvel roster. “Getting sent to this No Man’s Land means you’ve done something wrong in Battleworld,” editor Mark Paniccia explains to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s equivalent to having to walk the plank over shark-infested waters. In this story you’ll see someone who is deemed a criminal sentenced to this very dangerous territory—a character I can’t mention—but is a really cool twist that James came up with.”

But just because both armies are trying to wipe out the heroes doesn't mean they're working together. “They war for whatever humanity they can find, with Ultron wishing to either control it or kill it and the zombies wanting to eat it. They’re definitely at war," says writer James Robinson. Here's our first unlettered preview of the series, and you can find out some more about it at the link below.

This really shouldn't be a fight should it. Wouldn't Ultron and his bits win this battle?

I only own the first Marvel zombies book(Magneto fighting off superhero zombies is just beast), so I'm not really sure how to feel about this, I would have to buy the rest in order to read this it seems, just wondering if it's even worth it.

Ultron will wipe out the Marvel Zombies. They won't be able to win.

Vision, Jim Hammond, and Wonder Man? Thats like, the same character 3 times in every incarnation lol Sounds like a cool idea to have them all as a team working that closely together. Plus Ultron and his bots up against zombies? a 3-way battle? This can either go amazing or terrible. We shall have to wait and see. I think it will end up being amazing depending on who the "mystery character" is. I hope its not Tigra.

@ WruceBayne

If the Zombie Hulk and his gang can take down Galactus and the Sliver Surfer then I'm sure they can take on Ultron and his drones. Remember Zombie Hulk has endless hunger to fuel his endless rage.

@symponywaffle, I agree, even though that came out before Spider-Verse, isn't killing that guy enough, Christ.

Marvel Zombies is terrible. Why would they make another one of these?

Agreed. It was a good storyline. I just wish they'd leave it alone now. It was already walking an ultra-fine line of homage/parody. Every time they go back to that well they slide deeper and deeper into parody, and we're talking about the very worst parody. Unintentional parody.

I guess Ultron can also become a zombie, then. Even if he's a robot.
