And with that completely disappears the "reality" tone of the original and Watchmen becomes grounded in the 'muscles and spandex' homoerotica of the standard comic landfil!

Looks more like the Nite Owl look from the film than that from the comic. But hey, Jim Lee's a pretty terrific artist. Still not 100% on this whole prequel business, but I'll at least check it out.

Terrible cover, not a spectacularly bad illustration but a shocking cover.
What is even the point of it?

Jim Lee's covers suck badly. But the rest of his work is okay.
I always buy the alternative covers for Justice League.

Jim Lee can't draw anatomy for shit! The guys neck is larger than his entire face! His waistline is elongated just to highlight a belt! And his forearms are cartoon sized like Popeye! All this with his tired over use of wrinkles and hatch lines.

Nite Owl was never meant to look like a over the top cartoony body builder, he was a normal man with a load of gadgets!

Jim Lee is an exceptional artist and has been for a long time. I'm not really the confrontational type, but I love how people hate on the PROFESSIONAL artists who make their living drawing! And the Batman crap is tired too... EVERY cape and coweled character looks like Batman to these people!
bahman... nope that's Night Owl
BAHman... nope that's Wolverine toweling off after a shower
BAAAAHHHMANNN!... really? that's vulture and spiderman is making rabbit ears behind him! STHU!

@wearethewalkingdead9 - No argument there, Liefield remains the worst individual to actually get paid to ruin the word "artist"!

Back to this ridiculous Jim Lee sketch, do you realise how long his biceps would have to be in order for his forearms to be situated where they are in that picture?

Jim Lee simply never learned anatomy proportions beyond drawing big muscles for every male and the exact same physique for every female. His renderings have no variety and have gotten worse over the years because of that basic limitation where as other artists like Bryan Hitch actually got better over the years because they learned to perfect the basics.

I don't understand the praise for Jim Lee when there are way better comic book artists.

Great anatomy, dynamic drawings from Ivan Reis.

Wow Jim Lee is sacred but it's cool to go to town on Olivier Coipel for that Avengers vs X-Men C2E2 poster? You don't need to be a professional to criticize art, the very fact that Jim Lee is a pro and has been for so many years means that his anatomy should be better especially when using a more realistic style as opposed to cartoony like Bachalo.

How is it that one guy can draw anything and it always looks awesome while can't draw nothing harder then a smiley no matter how much I try.

Jim Lee is a good artist but I have to agree with the negative take on this piece. The anatomy is way off and the pose is the opposite of dynamic. Jr Jr, lee,Silvestri and alot of the "older" comic artists seem to be losing something.

Nightowl is wearing armor you ass that's why his shoulders are so high not to mention the cape, plus this is before watchman so he might not have his middle aged gut yet. Think before you speak.

And Jim Lee is THE MAN, who else could redesign every iconic Hero & Villains costume in DC? I mean he didn't go too far from the characters classic look (which means he's limited in what he could do) while still updating it to something more modern. And I'm sure we all can agree that the majority of the costumes are more hits than misses. That whole thing could have went down the crapper with some dumbass designs, anyone remember Red & Blue Eletric Superman, or Armored Daredevil, or pretty much everything that Marvel & DC Sidon the late 90's when they were trying to be hip & new & sale books.......Goodtimes...Goodtimes.
