COMICS: Meet SUPERMAN's Joker In BATMAN/SUPERMAN #19

Greg Pak describes the antagonist of his upcoming Batman|Superman run, "Superman's Joker." He's already shot Batman with a Kandorian bullet and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Check out a preview for Greg Pak's upcoming Batman|Superman run where he describes the central antagonist as Superman's Joker. Apparently, this isn't a new character but someone who has had previous encounters with the Man of Steel at some point in DC Comics' rich history. However, Pak says that he checks social media from time to time and no one has guessed the identity of the villain.

Man, Pak just nails Superman. Action Comics is probably DC's best title after Snyder/Capullo's Batman. Love the Horrorville arc with Ultra-Humanite.

Batman/Superman isn't that bad too but it hasn't been as good as the first arc Pak did with Jae Lee and having the New 52 Earth 1 Batman and Superman teaming up with the Earth 2 Batman and Superman.

How did Kryptonians fly in Krypton if they can only get their powers from the yellow sun?

I thought Kandor was like some capital on Krypton. How are the Kryptonians flying around?

Greg Pak is as good as that second cover is bad.

I hate flying Kryptonians, but what the hell. It's not like Superman flying makes any damn sense anyway.

Superman's "Joker" is Zod. Joker represents both the same as Batman and his complete opposite at the same time, so in a sense they are both crazy insane, both broken people who in a strange way know one another better than anyone else ever could, but they also represent chaos and order and the fight between them.

Zod is the same, he knows Superman understands him, both want to create perfect worlds, both are lost in a world that could never understand them, but it's that difference that Superman believes he can guide humanity while Zod wants to wipe it. In a strange way they need one another, but their phyliosophy will divide them.

However this also highlights the problem of having a super family as Superman can rely on others and thus this relationship between him and Zod is destroyed.

If by a Joker character just making a character insane just doesn't work as it lacks the dynamic, the interplay between the two.

But yeah, Greg Pak's Action Comics run has been fantastic so far. He digs into the "human" side of Superman like I haven't seen a lot of modern writers do

Why does that second cover even exist?
Stupid, boring, meaningless composition.
NOTHING entices you to pick this comic up, much less BUY the thing.

Entice me, woo me . . . if you want my four bucks!
