As Adam West's misadventures continue, he finds himself in the middle of a war between an alien race and their genetically-created world destroyer who has decided to turn the tables on his creators in a vie for freedom and the hope of being reunited with a lost love. For Adam, this becomes a personal mission when it's indicated that the "world destroyer" had once been his TV sidekick.

It all unfolds in The Misadventures of Adam West #8, "World War Love," from writers Leon McKenzie & Edward Gross, artist Luis Rivera, colorist Leonardo Meschini, letterer T. Warren Montgomery and publisher Bluewater Productions.

For the writing team of McKenzie and Gross, this is their third issue in the series, and continues the attempt to offer up a wide diversity of tales involving Adam West and the mystical amulet that has not only made him young again, but bounces him through time and space as the worlds of reality and fiction increasingly bleed into each other. It began with #6, which saw Adam teaming up with Battlestar Galactica actor Dirk Benedict in a struggle against a robot army; and continued with #7 in which Adam finds himself a high school principal at the exact moment that a serial killer is on the loose. Now the canvas is bigger than ever as the fate of a world and a man's soul hangs in the balance.

"Our original concept was to team Adam West with Burt Ward at a time when it looked like Bluewater would be doing an ongoing comic with Ward," explains Gross, "but those plans ultimately fell through. What Leon and I realized was that the character we had come up for this issue, The Warden, was actually strong enough to work independently of the original idea. In fact, it opened up whole new layers to him that we got the opportunity to explore. He's a character we're hoping to revisit in the future."

“What I like about The Warden is that despite whats happened to him physically, he is still very much a human being who is not lost in his rage. He is ultimately driven by hope, love and a sense of justice," adds McKenzie. "He just operates on a totally different scale. That’s what Adam West’s take on Batman really symbolized: hope. Hope for a brighter day, and that’s what the Warden offers. He’ll fight an entire army with the hope of saving a single child. There is zero compromise in doing the right thing with him.

“The Warden," he continues, is a nice combination of a Power Ranger and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z with a dash of Jack Hawksmoor [from the Warren Ellis era of The Authority) thrown in for good measure.”

The Warden will return in a slightly altered uniform and a revised role, in Bluewater's forthcoming Meta Hyper Crisis.

I can't get with Bluewater.

They really try to exploit their talent. Especially those just starting out and happy to see something in print. Read that contract carefully.

They once asked me to do a ten issue mini of a pretty decent property but for no pay, and a cut of the trades once they went into print. Not just pencil and ink it either, but also colors.

That's IF they even became trades. See, there's the rub. There is no guarantee when or if they even would. So guess what happens to my potential pay-day?

I'm not that desperate.

Does exist and, hopefully, the article is not perceived as a joke. Admittedly the whole concept they came up with is a little out there, but Leon and I are attempting to have some real fun with it.

You should get DioFoRio to do the artwork.

Is this canon to Family Guy? That would actually be pretty funny if it was. End the series with him being mayor of Quahog.

You should have an issue where Adam West teams up with William Shatner. That would be amazing.

All that talent and they couldn't get an artist who could capture Adam West's likeness?

Excellent work as always, Ed. I agree with BlackandYellow, some people don't know what they are talking about

Levitikuz, we've toyed with the idea of Adam West meeting William Shatner. Just some rights issues there.

Thanks, blackandyellow, Valeriesghost and ParisSun. Like I said above, we're having a great time. By the way, issue #9 is going to feature CBM's old friend, Fleischer! Here's a panel that's been released:
