COMICS: 'Peter Parker' Gets His Marriage Back In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS

The events of "One More Day" wiped the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson from history, but Dan Slott and Adam Kubert's Secret Wars tie-in Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows will revisit that relationship. Why is it being billed as "The Last Spider-Man Story"?

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first artwork and details about Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, a story set in the altered reality of Secret Wars featuring a Peter Parker with a wife (Mary Jane Watson) and child. Writer Dan Slott wasn't willing to give too much away - the full interview can be find by clicking on the link below - but did have this to say about what fans should expect. "You haven’t seen Spider-Man’s classic villains the way you know and love—I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eddie Brock as Venom in this story. Or Sergei Kravinoff as Kraven the Hunter in this story. There’s going to be a lot of bullets in the gun for things you wanted to see in a Spider-Man story that you haven’t seen in a while. This is the ultimate classic feel. This is the last Eddie Brock story. The stakes have never been higher for Peter Parker because he’s never had so much to lose. So he has never been this close to the edge. And these are the Last Days." While you won't need to be reading Secret Wars to understand the story, it could have major ramifications for what the Marvel Universe looks like following the event. Will Peter and Mary Jane be together again? "What I can tell you? No matter who or what or how Spider-Man comics will be made in the future—elements from this story will go on into the next incarnation. Elements. Of this. Yes."

If Peter and Mary Jane ever got married again, I would not only start reading Spider-Man again, I would actually buy ever Spider-Man comic that has come out since OMD.

Watching Peter deal with the drama of marriage and family is more interesting than seeing him go through girlfriends over and over.

No more backtracking. I want to see new Spider-Man stories.

"The stakes have never been higher for Peter Parker"

This book is a constant back and forth between absurd retcon and resetting to to status quo. I miss Superior Spider-Man.

I want a scene where Peter says to Mephisto, "Hey asshole! Give me my life back!"

One More Day is still canon. This better not be a simple Ret-con. If the deal with mephisto is addressed and undone, I will re read spiderman proudly.

@Superheromovies2000 That's a storyline from the comics that happened a little while after Civil War which Spidey has a wife and a daughter. Sadly, his Marriage was errased due to a deal with Mephisto to make his identity a secret once more... In this case, it's an AU where the deal never happened.

THIS is what I want to see in Spider-Man movies down the road. Not the 'Renew Your Vows' and the stupid One More Day story arc, I'm talking about Spider-Man getting married, STAYING married, and having a family. THAT would be really cool to see 10 years or whatever down the line.

That's why I'm glad Marvel wants to hire a teenager to play a teenage Peter Parker. Spider-Man is a character that kids today should want to grow up with, just as we grew up with him in his various incarnations in our childhood.

The MC2 universe was interesting because unlike most other Marvel universes this one was almost the same as the 616 universe but deviated more in the future like alternate future universe. Where pretty much everyone was who they were in the 616 universe just they grew older and their children or protege's took over their mantles or took mantles of their own.

This is part of the Secret Wars tie in line showcasing different realities, which it even says in the article. Nothing has been retconned or undone this is simply a reality where Spidey never did the deal with Mephisto.

Good. Now can we please all just forget that the abomination of a comic book called 'One More Day' ever happened? That'd be nice.

@Jollem- He's a teacher he will never be stable, with no family or money problem. I'm a teacher it's an awful job in the case of stability and paying a family.Especially in NY with the rubber room backlash and charter school situation. Half the teachers in NYC don't even have contracts.

I like this. I said that they should have let Aunt May die in Civil War and had Peter wonder if he should be Spider-Man anymore. Especially because his ID is public.

Then MJ at the end of the issue tells him she's pregnant and there would be years worth of stories with Peter trying to become a father, and a good example to his daughter.

If they do something like this, I really hope they don't flash forward too fast to the daughter already partially grown up. I'd really like to see stories of her finally being born and as a baby and toddler etc.

After all we already have the Spider-Girl books so we kinda know what's to come after she's a teenager.

"spider-man is supposed to be a married adult with a kid? wtf just happened?"

Why do you think Spider-Man resonated so many people? Because he could relate to the reader. He is supposed to face the real-life challenges that we face everyday. Marriage and family are things people have to endure in the real world. Removing those realistic struggles goes against the entire point of Spider-Man.

Besides, watching Peter Parker fail at his love life over and over again stopped being exciting a long time ago. We want new stories. We want to see our favorite characters grow up.

Married to MJ again??? No thank you, I prefer another female character that it's not an anchor to Peter, the perfect example was Gwen in the Amazing Spider Man movies.

I'm not a fan of MJ, for me she always will be one of the greatest damsel in distress of the comic world on par with Lois Lane.
