After covering the story of a massive event coming from DC Comics during their move from New York to Burbank in April 2015 for months, the publisher unveiled the first details for Convergence last week. The nine-week epic will revisit storylines and universes from DC's past, with the promo art featuring characters from Elseworlds realities, Flashpoint, the pre-New 52 continuity and others, much to the excitement of fans. Now, DC have unveiled plans for ten two-part miniseries, bringing back the fan-favourite Lois and Clark relationship, Stephanie Brown as Batgirl, Harley Quinn in her classic costume and much more. Check out the first details and interior art below, and leave your thoughts in the usual place.

I may be alone here, but I almost don't want the old universe back. I was really hoping the New 52 would progress and develop. I'm really enjoying it at the moment and while there will be thousands of people rejoicing that the all-glorious, perfect Pre-52 verse is back, I'm not excited at all.

I'm with you @staypuffed

I really enjoy the New 52 as well. A little bit more so than I did with the Pre-52. The New 52 converted me into fans of DC characters I never thought that I would become a fan of. Aquaman and Wonder Woman especially.

Back to this confusing shit.

@staypuffed

Oh, trust me, you're not alone. The moment I scrolled down and saw no collar and those tights, I had a small feeling of agony.

But, since some of these universes are crossing over, there could be a good crossover.

Yes! The Pre-52 lives! Though I agree with you guys, the New 52 had some changes for the better.

Remember when Coke introduced New coke and it wasn't very good and people demanded the original formula to return so they reintroduced it as Coke Classic? Good times.

New 52 is not going away. This event does not involve the New 52.

Why is it that every time DC revisits a previous universe/continuity, Superman and Lois are always either expecting a child, or have recently had one, when no child was ever mentioned prior to the reboot? Is it just their shorthand for "time has passed, life kept going for these old characters"?

Apart from that (and I'm not even saying that's a bad thing, just a bit on the nose), nice to see the old universe back for a bit. I really like the New 52 for the most part, but seeing these versions, the closest to classic we've got, is a nice, nostalgic touch. And I still kind of think DC missed a trick by renumbering Action Comics and Detective Comics, when they could have used them to continue the Pre-52 universe versions of Superman and Batman's stories going, and told the New 52 versions in their named books (although the first two volumes of New 52 Action Comics which I've read seem better than their equivalents in the Superman comic, so maybe not...)

@Superior
Man, people were going nuts over "THE REAL SUPERMAN HURR DURR" on Reddit, saying seeing that costume is the greatest relief in their lives. Seriously? ugh.

@Dmon
That's true, but I'm just saying that it doesn't give me pleasure to see the old continuity back.

DC's new RETCONN storyline.

Lol, and some people here were in denial that this wasn't another DC Retconn event, pssh! That's why they called it the Band-Aid.

@Dmon

It's going to end up being a merger by events' end, stay tuned.

Just 3 years ago people were debating that Flashpoint wouldn't start another reboot/retconn until news of the New 52 broke.

Retconn - it's always been a staple of DC for decades.

DC didn't call it the Band-Aid, Bleeding Cool gave it that nickname.

"Retconn - it's always been a staple of DC for decades."

Yes, I heard you the four hundredth time.

So, flashback to when the last retcon universe had already gone off the rails? DC is saying to the fans "You liked it better before? Fine. Eat this crap for a while, then we'll see how much you hate the new crap."

If it helps clear up any confusion, it looks like Brainiac will have samples of dead universes preserved, in a similar fashion to his classic preservation of cities from dead planets in glass bottles. I don't think they will be actual universes as part of the multiverse, but more like the bottled city of Kandor.
I think it seems like a pretty cool idea and I hope they use this as a way for the real Power Girl to yet again slip through the cracks of the crises, as the last survivor of the original DC canon.
Also, the term "Pre-52"? I know it shouldn't annoy me as much as it does, but it does. Pre-New 52 or Pre-Flashpoint are much more prefarable and also more accurate. Pre-52 would be the Post-Zero Hour universe. Just saying.

Make the universe smaller, it's too confusing.
Make the universe more expansive. It's too confining for the writers to be restricted so.
Make the universe more cohesive and shrink it. All that extra continuity is too hard to keep tracked of.
Show the true diversity of the multiverse because we have such a rich history.

My head hurts . . .

(Note: For trolls on both sides, Marvel's no better.)
