Last summer, DC Comics published a miniseries which brought Masters Of The Universe back to comic books, beginning a series of other titles and one-shots based on the franchise. Now, MTV Geek has learned that DC will begin publishing its first Masters ongoing monthly series this April. Writer Keith Giffen and artist Pop Mhan will work on the title, while the first issue features covers by Ed Benes and Terry & Rachel Dodson. As for what we can expect from this first issue, MTV Geek reveals that She-Ra will return, but in this story, she's known as Despara, who is known as "one of the evil Hordak's most deadly weapons! Also -- somebody dies!" Do you plan on checking out Masters Of The Universe #1 in April?

Where's the rest of Teela's outfit? That looks like something from comics in the 90's. Cannot say that I approve...

@Slyde in the series they show that Hordak is "dead". Maybe it ain't him.

And She-Ra worked with Hordak in the beggining of the cartoons.

Nice to see this. But female Hordak? Hobe it's not supposed to be him. Hopefully rather another of Hordak's "female furies" like Adora/She-Ra. Maybe it's even her: The face pretty much looks like a mask. I'd rather have them somehow keep continuity with the TV series. I like the back-story they provided for Skeletor in the 2002 series. On the other hand I'm not that into this Captain Marvel like teenager turns into hero thing. Anyway maybe we even get to know more about Horde Prime.

If this turns out to be a success, who knows maybe they cross He-Man over into some other intergalactic DC stories like Green Lantern, as He-Man's/Adam's and Adora's/She-Ra's mother is an lost astronaut from earth. I'd definitely pick that up.

I had to drop the mini after issue 3. It was boring. It was a story I didn't need to see. The art started with Philip Tan and then ended up with I don't know who but it was pretty mreh. If it's the artist doing the main series is the same as the one doing the mini, that's even less reason to pick it up. Also, I'm pretty sure the "female Hordak" on the cover is Despara (aka evil Sh Ra).

I don't think that's Hordak. Hordak has already made an appearance in this new continuity in the origin of Skeletor one-shot that came out last year. I agree with beane that the mini series has been pretty ho-hum, but it has created a pretty solid basis for an ongoing series to build off of.

that is what I was waiting for! the mini-series feels like some kind of prologue anyway..

what's the point with "don't care" posts? if I do not care, I don't read these news ^^ so who cares that you don't care?! abnormal talkativeness? maybe?

That is not a female Hordak. It is Adora, sister of Adam, in an armor. Her name is Despara before she gets her sword and become She-Ra.

@boiling: totally agreed
