COMICS: DC's "Band-Aid" Project Won't Have New 52 Characters, But Different Realities

Oh, and I actually am disappointed. There are some good bits about the New 52, but there is nth to compare with the old universe. Hal Jordan used to be cool...and now he is just a useless douchebag...BRING ME BACK THE OLD 52!~

None of this sounds believable. Just some rumblings of a fan upset with the New 52 that Bleeding Cool decided to run as a story.

Sounds good to me. After all is said and done, I hope we still get a badass Aquaman.

Making Aquaman badass is one the very few things the New 52 comics did right.

New 42 has change for the sake of change and being hipsterish ending up being utterly inferior by comparison to what has come before.

If you've barely seen or read any of the New 52, then how do you know it sucks? Sheesh, you guys are pissers.

And things were starting to get stale. I mean, look at Batman pre-New 52: they had to resort to killing him off to generate new story ideas, had Dick Grayson replace him (which was a decent run), then had him go through time travel adventures to come back to life, then had him set up a Batman franchise where he sponsored different Bat-themed heroes... that's a bit uninspired. Then, the New 52 happens, Snyder and Capullo get carte-blanche on Batman, and we get one of the best runs that the character has had in decades. And look at Aquaman - can anyone honestly say he was better pre-reboot?

Of course, some characters have suffered from the reboot, but if history has taught us anything about comics, it's that these things are cyclical: eventually, new talent will be put on those books, and they'll subtly alter the characters until they become good again. There have even been instances where writers/artists have made mistakes which got published and improved the characters.

And, if nothing else, there's a huge strength comics have over any other medium of fiction: you can pick and choose different volumes and storylines from different continuities and make your own ongoing storyline for a character. I have 12 volumes of Batman comics, including the first 4 from the New 52 as well as many of the older classics: Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Arkham Asylum, The Killing Joke, The Dark Knight Returns, etc. And I can easily accept them all as one ongoing narrative, rather than being different universes - the few continuity discrepancies present are easy enough to ignore. And if that still doesn't help, then at least you can look forward to the next reboot."
