Axel Alonso, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics Talks About New Spider-Man; Miles Morales

Axel Alonso, "We originally discussed an African-American Spider-Man."

Axel Alonso:

Miles Morales has different powers than Peter Parker.

"To all the people who view this as a politically correct move or what have you, I assure you it's not," said Alonso. "Peter Parker for decades garnered fans of all races, sizes, creeds and colors. And we have no doubt that Miles Morales will do exactly the same thing. It's his heart that matters, not the color of his skin."

No. All that matters is that it's 100% politically correct and is extra sensative so it won't offend anyone or hurt anyone's feelins.

STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!

Bring Back Peter Parker!

I don't Care about race or gender or sexuality!

All I give a damn about is the story of Peter Parker and Spiderman!

Not Some Generic Ripoff!

Like it or Not this is not Peter Parker! Hence this is not SPIDERMAN! Its someone dressed up like him!

Just Stupid! I would have rather Eddie Brock or Or a Spider Clone took over!

Ok so he's part African-American and part Hispanic who may be gay in the future...I'm sorry but how does this NOT tick every demographic box?! I'm not racist at all and wouldn't have a problem usually, but this transition has been handled terribly.

@RadicalDuck he said he wasn't gay. Glenn beck said he was gay. i assume you've listened to the video?

@marvel72 They dont bring people back in Ultimates. They replaced Wolverine with his son Jimmy.

Shouldn't they have just started Ultimate spider-man this way then there wouldn't be such a big deal about it now.

I mean 2099 spider-man was Miguel O'Hara from the off and that's fine.

So since the Ultimate Universe is supposed to be different from the Amazing universe why didn't they just have him as a totally different person.

also anyone remember the spider-man from India?

I don't buy this for one second. This has political correctness written all over it.
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 8/11/2011, 3:10 PM
Also, people like spidey because of Peter, why do they just randomly kill him off and replace him? It's pc. It's obvious.

@ScarletVendetta

Wait, Hellboy is dead . . . it would be pretty dumb if they make a black Hellboy concidering the fact that he is a demon.

If so, chances are he will be just a pallete swap version of the original.
