COMICS: AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 Surpasses JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 Orders

Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 has beaten the record set by last September's Justice League #1, becoming one of the best selling mainstream superhero comic books ever! Hit the jump for details.

The launch of "The New 52" saw DC proudly flaunting the fact that they had over 200,000 pre-orders for Justice League #1; their flagship title in the relaunched universe. Subsequent printings saw it surpass the 300,000 mark (an extremely impressive record) but Marvel are now back on top report Bleeding Cool. The site have apparently received reliable word that Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 is not only the publishers best selling title ever (surpassing Civil War #1) but that it has now beaten Justice League #1. While DC's relaunch managed to grab plenty of attention, it seems that even their premiere superteam is no match for the appeal of seeing heroes fighting other heroes.

Nice, i've had to trim the fat ( Detective comics, Hulk, FF, Venom :-(, Nightwing) to collect this event.

Heh. That's funny. Looking forward to this event though. From what I've read of the build up it looks like it has a lot of potential.

Said it before and I'll say it again: If the Avengers have Hulk and Thor then the fight is over before it begins. Those two don't even need the rest of the Avengers to take on the entire Marvel U themselves.

Here is a stupid question I guess...

How do you pre-order a comic book?

marvel72 - 3/6/2012, 11:01 AM
eXcellent,we all knew it would swing back in marvels favor. :D

@ wildaniel

if you buy your comics online, you'd be able to pre-order months in advance.

OK I see, I like going to the comic book store every Wednesday and buy the physical comic book.

agreed. Cyclops could kill the entire avengers team by himself if he wanted to... he's just got too many hot mutant ladies to bang first..

@ wildaniel

i use to give my local comic shop a list of what i wanted each month,so that's a form of pre-ordering.

Wolverine changes his stripes more often than a politician. I hope both teams gang beat his flip-flopping ass.

@BlindLemonShemp I'm with you and Nomis. Time for Cyclops to clean the house and stablish himself as the true leader of the X-Men.

For all these MArvel vs. DC wishers...it's been done.

Lobo vs Wolverine (winner Wolverine)
Hulk Vs Superman (winner Superman)
etc...

This spawned Amalgam Comics (hybrid of Marvel and DC)
Super Soldier (combo Superman and Captain America)
DArk Claw (Batman and Wolverine)
Dr. Doomsday
Spider Boy
Amazon (WW and Storm)
Skulk (LOL not very original...solomon grundy and Hulk)

Most if not all can be found in TPB

Also....the Marvel "event" in the short run is bigger...but he DC universe has changed...similar ideas but different results. DC hopes to create a new starting point for new fans and for current fans to get reinvigorated and it worked...Marvel on the other hand has made a flash in the pan that will burn bright but eventually fizzle...it's what they do. WW Hulk, Red Hulk, Marvel Zombies, etc...There is no lasting result to these things...AND it's not like it hasn't been done before...IT HAS...HULK SMASHED

It's the nature of the business, it will go back and forth like this, which is good for the readers and creative wise.

Justice league was mediocre-to-bad. As fo Marvel, they were giving away the x-men vs. Avengers preview last week and the pages I read were for 12 year olds and the art was terrible. All the faces looked identical. I wouldn't recommend either.

I've been saying the same thing @niknik. Thor and Hulk alone wipes the floor with the Xmen but you know in order to make the story work they're sending Thor in space to fight the Phoenix which takes him off the board. They also gave that clown Colossis the Juggernot's helmet to power him up. As seen in World War Hulk the Xmen could do nothing to the Hulk so they will find a way to even things out for the sake of the story.

HUSH

Good work Marvel. Only took every Avenger and X-Men to take down seven leaguers. Bravo.

Good job DC. Only took relaunching your entire universe (yet again) to attract new readers to be more ˝hip" and gain more sales after the 30+ years of being dominated by Marvel. EXCELLENT. :-)

@0SageMode0-what are you talking about? Marvel recently came out with season 1 graphic novels for spiderman, Xmen, and fantastic four.

Marvel will continue to put team members versus team members just for the sake of a new story. How many times in the past decade have Marvel, superheroes gone against each other?

DC is not going to have superheroes join groups and then have them clash all the time. Marvel needs to be a little more creative when it come to having a story. It seems like, Marvel is jumping the shark to many times.

No wonder why Marvel superheroes are not celebrated as much by the public in their universe when compared to the way DC superheroes are celebrated by the public in their universe. Marvel superheroes fight each way other TOOO MUCH.

Really... Marvel vs DC, DC vs Marvel...? Making something out of nothing. Two publishers that have their up's and downs. Eh, DC might have a few more iconic characters than Marvel...
