“In this pic Miles looks older, because the first idea was to have the new hero the same age of Peter Parker, but then we changed our mind, so this could be his older brother! What a pity—he was hot I think. Nice coat [by the way], don't you think?”

“At one point I decided to give Miles a dog; please don't ask—there was no reason to do it but I just liked the idea. Jokes aside I was trying to figure his personality out.”

““Here Miles was 12-14 years old; still his age wasn't sure but I was trying to find the right body and face proportions. I was studying the haircuts too.”

I don't like any of the concept art. but from what I saw in the final design, he sorta resembles my son. I'm black and his mother is puerto rican.

Please, no cornrows or sh**locks. I think it's cool that they changed his ethnicity, but let's not patronize stereotypes of young black and latino boys.

jazzman
jazzman - 8/8/2011, 3:13 PM
its funny this is not the first time a Biracial character took over the mantle of Spider-Man. Ashley Barton a half black and white character took over and become Spider-Woman her mother is black Tonya Parker daughter of Peter Parker and her father is white Hawkeye this story was set in another Marvel universe.

@Greengo I agree. Apparently POTUS is a huge Spider-Man fan so that makes sense.

I have no problem with Miles Morales. I'm very interested in seeing his character and how he differs from Peter Parker in personality, combat, and decision-making.

Look whats the point of bitching about him having a certain hairstyle other then the one they chose?

Concept art is exactly that. If its concepts they chose not to go with then whats the problem.

Anyway these hairstyles aren't racist or stereotyping. That's what black men/boys wear. Its like stereotyping white people for having long hair with bangs.
jazzman
jazzman - 8/8/2011, 3:17 PM
alot of people also forget that Black Panther T'Challa mantle for awhile was taken over by a biracial black/jewish character named Kasper Cole
